The Russian Invasion of Ukraine Part 4

Gonzalo Lira, who is in Kharkov, points out that Jake Sullivan at that dopehead conference in Colorado said that the little comedian should better watch his back. And that is indeed an interesting point. I thought for quite some time now that if z had a working brain, he would have already fled to Israel. And not because of the Russians. Interesting little rant, although I'm a bit suspicious of the guy and disagree with some of what he says (I maintain that Russia has zero interest in western Ukraine, but Poland has and will grab it):

It's interesting that the references I find for Jake Sullivan being worried about President Zelenskyy's welfare come from the following "reputable" sources.

  • rt.com
  • presstv.ir
  • various conspiracy blogs

Which is not to say that it isn't true, but likely it's not true

Of course it is, do you think I would quote "Her Majesty's" MoD?

If the British MoD confirmed that Russia had destroyed a Ukrainian arms depot containing HIMARs rockets and M777 shells then yes, you would - not least because it would be independent confirmation of a Russian claim from a source that most contributors to this thread would consider credible.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky says ...
... keep their crawl going?

Right. It's a crawl. It's a matter of opinion whether you want to elevate such a crawl to the rank of "counter-offensive".
At the pace of this crawl, this is not going to return all the lost areas to Ukraine this decade or the next, so in my opinion, this is either not a counter-offensive yet. Just some maneuvering.

I don't think I'm ready to call CE's prediction as failed just yet, but I expect to do so sometime in the next few weeks.

IMO even if Ukraine was able to launch a successful, large scale, counteroffensive, it would be handwaved away. Various reasons would be given, it's a strategic withdrawal by Russia, it's fake news and Russia still holds the area, it's not a counteroffensive - it's localised resistance that will soon be mopped up, it's not a Ukrainian counteroffensive - it's a NATO counteroffensive, it's just Poland invading.

I think the Captain was referring to the Russian crawl.

Primary sources, Don. You have to go to primary sources these days. Here is a link to youtube where there are at least two videos on top with the guy from the Aspen conference. I won't watch them for you. Have fun:

I notice we’ve let CE slip away from their claim that the BBC said grain silos at the port were hit by missiles.

I pay zero attention to the British MoD.

I refer to the Russian crawl. It is consuming their units elsewhere on the front
Ukraine are not going to launch a major offensive yet. Why would they when the Russians are still being degraded without the need for offensive action?

Oh - you changed topic! Sorry, I didn't catch that. I was arguing a whole nuther point with eerok: whether that counter-offensive is already underway. Glad you agree with me it isn't :)

That will have depend on where you place the starting point of such a counter-offensive. It might have started, without there having been any big direct attempt at taking territory yet IMO.
