CNN has a good report tonight on the Nazi camps Ukrainian civilians are sent to for selection before being sent on to other camps or deportation into Russia. I don't use the word selection lightly. Russian Nazis are almost certainly murdering Ukrainians they select out of the camps.

I know The Daily Beast is having a bit of fun with their headline but Jesus Christ! how much cheap ass propaganda are the Russian public expected to swallow before they barf it back in in a massive revolt?

It would be way easier to sell the idea that the soldiers tested positive for meth.

The Ukrainians certainly don't consider the Russians to be brother folk.

My Ukrainian uncle's father emigrated to Australia after the war. He always used to say that living under the Nazis was much better than living under the Stalinists. The Nazis were evil, sure, but at least you always knew where you stood. And they didn't systematically starve the population to death and move their own people into the houses and apartment blocks that were thusly vacated.

No, the Ukrainians don't like the Russians at all.

There is another reason to think the analysis is wrong. Shadows. The shadow behind the cab is half the length of the one from the back of the vehicle to the ground. The cab is higher than the missiles but not by much.

If that was a HIMARS the shadow behind the cab should be several times shorter based on the profile view of the vehicle. Instead it is half the length of the rear shadow.

You are incorrect. The Ukrainians have and continue to humiliate the Russians on a daily basis. How many Russian "generals" have the Ukrainians killed, like about a dozen or so now? The Ukrainians made the Russian Navy in the Black Sea their bitch. They straight up did the spanky dance on the Moscova and sank or seriously damaged other surface combatants. Ukraine's armed forces sent the Russian Army running home with their tail between their legs on the road to Kiev.

To add to that how many times have they shelled the same airport because the Russians keep putting stuff there?

Reuters, like AP, is one of the most reputable news agencies. Those working for it would probably (credibly) argue that it is the leading news agency.

The CIA, on the other hand...

... No, I'm serious. The director of the CIA makes remarks for public consumption, it's reasonable to wonder what purpose they're intended to serve, and whether they're actually true remarks.

The numbers seem to be in line with other estimates I've read. I think The Don said upthread that it would be pretty close to those numbers as well.

About 15k dead and about 35-40k injured. I won't argue that the CIA generally has some agenda behind giving information, but these stats seem genuine.
 
Excellent video explaining why Russia's air-defense systems can't cope with GMLRS, and why upgrading them to be able to do so will likely take years.

Dumb missiles, as in unguided, would be no better than katyushas, although a 300 mm big 'un would make a much more effective bang.

But a dim missile, i.e, one that knows just enough to follow a smart one, would be impossible to jam and hard to decoy.
