The Russian Invasion of Ukraine Part 4

"... we launched the Belgorod submarine with Poseidon unmanned torpedoes".

I didn't realise there was such a thing as a manned torpedo. Funny piece :)

Funny peculiar. Difficult to parse. I understood the bit about HIMARS not being operated by Ukrainians but by US/UK forces. I await the evidence with the usual bated breath. I also enjoyed the "For some reason, we don’t focus on this publicly" comment and suspect the reason is that it's complete fantasy.

Once again Russian propaganda has lots of supporting evidence but you can't see it because it goes to a different school.

Several.
Italy used them to sink and damage British ships in Gibraltar and Alexandria.
Britain copied them with some success.
They were guided to the target and a timer set while the 'pilot' diver swam away.

Japan had Kamikaze torpedoes but they never managed to sink anything.

Btw, I almost admire CE’s persistence in promoting the Putin line. But then I read their posts about “Ukrainians using civilians as human shields” and “Ukrainians and Russians being brotherly nations” and not only do I not admire, I am offended by such mendacious lying.

Ukrainians, and those of us who support their fight for survival against the murderous regime in Moscow, won’t forget. Or forgive.

For some reason you felt like trying to butcher it. The whole sentence:

The Saker stuff (LOL) said:
For some reason, we don’t focus on this publicly. However, Russia responded very simply to the supply of American HIMARS-we launched the Belgorod submarine with Poseidon unmanned torpedoes.

I've been trying to resist responding, but this made me laugh too much. Now I have this image of a Russian submarine stealthy sliding through some Ukrainian forest in hunter-killer mode, it's periscope swiveling around trying to spot a hidden HIMARS truck. Once it has found it's prey it launches it's unmanned torpedoes through the forest, nuking it.

Good job that they have at long last developed an unmanned torpedo.

I'm not "promoting the Putin line". I support reality in face of pseudo-skeptical delusions born out of consuming propaganda.

I wonder what if the navy has an equivalent to the Air Force's "in-flight missile mechanic" joke?

You do know that HIMARS are trucks and move after every launch. How can a submarine track them?

'tactical pause' haha

Russia has special torpedoes that can also fly over land. Their flagship cruiser-to-submarine conversion Moskva has sixteen of them, converted from cruise missiles.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

If the Russians could deliver military competence to the degree they serve up ridiculous BS, they'd be doing a lot better in the field.

For some reason, we don’t focus on this publicly. However, Russia responded very simply to the supply of American HIMARS-we launched the Belgorod submarine with Poseidon unmanned torpedoes. By the way, she has already taken up combat duty, said Sergey Lipovoy, chairman of the presidium of the public organization “Officers of Russia”, in an interview with Tsargrad. This news was not advertised on all world channels, but those who need it already understand everything.

Ahh, the nuclear schlong again. Now as a response to the HIMARS deployment.

Curious thing is this (found by quick and dirty search):
The Project 09852 submarine Belgorod, the first carrier of Poseidon nuclear-powered underwater drones, was floated out on April 23, 2019. The submarine was initially planned to be delivered to the Navy in 2020. According to available data, its delivery was delayed as the program of its trials was not completed, which was also due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Either the Russian Military (or what you may call it) are prescient. Or somebody is an idiot.

*scratches head*

I'm looking forward to adding this to the "Things Childlike Empress was 100% wrong about" list.

re you sure you want to undertake such a Herculean endeavor?
An easier task would be to list all the things they were correct about.
I'd think a sheet of paper about the size of an average postage stamp would be adequate, if you wrote big and all.
