Russia came in with nice new "secure" radios. Ukraine bought a bunch within weeks of the new system debut, just simply buying them off individual Russian soldiers in Donbas. Then used them to learn how to jam the system, to monitor Russian communications and to feed them false information once the fighting started.

They probably had some decent night vision stuff too, but sold that off as well. If you supply first-world portable technology to soldiers who have third-world paychecks and who don't think they will go to war anyway, that tech just evaporates.

It looks as though Russia thought it's S400 missiles would defend against US long range guided rockets.

It would need an awful lot of missiles to take out whole salvoes of rockets.

I mentioned the Switchblade 600 just because it's well known and, as these things go, not very high tech. Swarm users would almost certainly deploy bigger and more ingenious drones for attacks on logistic centers.

When they want to strike command posts, smaller buzzers would be sufficient. Unless Gen. Pissodnavitch uses an armored latrine, he can be neutralized by a grenade's worth of plastique.

Small charges of grenade size would be a waste of time.

Thomas Röper is again in the Donbass on a tour, organized by Russian authorities, with around 40 international journalists, including, as he writes, for the first time German mainstream journalists in the form of three people from the ZDF ("Second German Television").

Two days ago they were in Severodonetsk and Lisitschansk, see report here. He says Severodonetsk is severly destroyed, even more than Mariupol was when he was there many weeks or even a month or two ago, while Lisitschansk is quite OK as the Kiev regime troops fled pretty quickly after the fall of Severodonetsk.

Yesterday they were indeed in Mariupol again, where the reconstruction is going on full-speed. He mentions again what I relayed to you that regions in Russia have taken up partnerships with cities in the Donbass. NATO is under no obligation to "stay" anywhere, and Russia is in no position to tell NATO what it should do.

OTOH Russia was under an obligation to respect the borders of Ukraine, but of course it broke that promise. Not that anyone was surprised by that, everyone knows Russia can't be trusted. That's why all it's neighbors are so interested in joining NATO, they want protection against Russia's imperialistic ambitions and NATO is the best option for that.
