You're remarkably loquacious for someone who was first with his back to the wall.
No it is not unfair. We are a year and a half from the election and Drumpf is still gaslighting the country. They've had a year and a half to come forward. Why haven't they?....
They've been criticized for not 'doing more.' Namely, going public when their boss, trump, wouldn't listen to them. I feel that criticism is kind of unfair.
Under the circumstances yes it was.....It took courage for them just to tell the boss something he didn't want to hear. It would have been a lot safer to just tell him, "Yes, mr. president, I agree with you." But to their credit they told him what they thought to be the truth. If you've ever been in that position -- an arrogant and demanding boss -- telling him what he DOESN'T want to hear is tough. But to then "go public?" I don't see that as being advisable.
First of all, it's not their responsibility to inform the public.
And you think that's better than throwing the whole country under the bus? Like Barr, stick around incase the gravy train keeps rolling. But when you are sure it's not or you just can't stay on it, then get off and claim you thought you could have more influence if you stayed on..... Staff people usually believe in a certain amount of confidentiality. If they had leaked it -- we're trying to tell him but he won't listen! -- and they were identified they're not only certain to be fired, their career is probably going up in flames. Most of these people have families and they have to protect their ability to earn a living. If they were identified, they'd have also probably been at physical risk. They would quite possibly have begun getting death threats, along with their family members. (Example: Dr. Anthony Fauci's KIDS had to have police protection.)
Define "everyone".....And you know what? At the end of the day it wouldn't have made any difference. So a White House attorney says "I told the president," so what? Everyone already knew trump was locked into claiming fraud in an obvious attempt to subvert the will of the American people.
I would not say that, but Eastman is headed for court.
As for Trump, he has to bear the basic responsbility for Jan 6th. He could have stopped it with one word, but he did not.
The question is DId Trump know how far his followers would go ? If he did, and did not stop them, thenhe bears full reponsiblity.
Forgive me if I think you just plain don't like Americans, and have not for a long time before Trump.
And I have to note there a strong dislike and at times hatred of the US has been popular on the Canadian Left for some time. At times I think it goes back to the Empire Loyalists....
I figured you'd take exception to my missive.
I've written before that there is much I admire about Americans. I'm just disgusted by the less savory aspects of American society. Fundamentally, toxic capitalism and the base worship of money above all else is sickening.
And of late, the rapid descent into madness that can too easily result in Autocracy scares me and hence makes me just plain angry.
Because when the US sneezes the world catches cold. The US losing its democracy would be calamitous for us all. So get used to the rest of the world slagging y'all, until sanity returns. Hopefully.

Want to know why Meadows was going to testify, turned over all those incriminating emails, then backed out of testifying?
We heard why in the 2nd hearing: Trump gave $1M to Meadows nonprofit weeks after Jan. 6 panel's creation

Raw Story dot com had an interview with Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) of the House Select Committee investigating Jan. 6th. Raskin told Raw Story that through testimony and documents the Committee has established that the following were telling trump the same thing, that it was over. He lost the election.

This is heating up. In newly released emails between Eastman and another Trump lawyer, they discuss (1) explosive moments behind the scenes at SCOTUS prior to Jan 6 and (2) the benefits of turbulence in order to influence SCOTUS.https://thehill.com/homenews/3525557-ginni-thomas-emailed-with-john-eastman-report/
"Virginia (Ginni) Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, emailed with Trump campaign lawyer John Eastman in correspondence obtained by the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021"
"Thomas" attempts to overturn the election results have drawn fierce criticism from Democrats. The (Washington) Post reported on Friday that Thomas emailed 29 Arizona state lawmakers to help reverse President Biden’s win in the state.
"Thomas’s involvement in the efforts has raised ethical questions over her husband’s role in deciding cases related to the election and Jan. 6. Justice Thomas has argued his decisions are entirely separate from his wife’s activism."
Clarence Thomas' position on SCOTUS is fast becoming untenable, if it isn't already. His lone dissenting vote in SCOTUS' order rejecting The Fat Orange Turd's bid to withhold documents from the January 6 panel now come into even sharper focus than before. Because of the likelihood that his wife is deeply involved in the criminal efforts of the The Fat Orange Turd and his minions' to overturn the election. At a minimum, Thomas must now recuse himself from ALL matters relating to January 6.

Talking heads (and I) wonder if Ginny Thomas was feeding behind-the-scenes info to Eastman.
