The Jan. 6 Investigation

Just to drag my family business into this a little more....

My Dad after the dog and pony show (he used that line too, hmm): "I just saw Newt Gingrich say that Pelosi refused to supply 10,000 troops 4 days before Jan 6"

Me "That's a lie it never happened"

Dad "Really? Are you sure?" (at least he asked)

Sends links. "Look it up"

[EDIT: I see above someone maybe claiming it happened. I have seen no evidence but am happy to look if there is anything to it]
We had a "heated" text debate where I addressed every concern of his and he whatabouted etc. and I pointed that out to him as well.

He says "You can't trust either side they're like magicians with their misdirection!"

Me "I was taught how to think by a famous magician! He taught us all the tricks!" LOL!

I think he was a few sheets to the wind too. Me and my Dad have a great relationship and we can say anything to each other. He's a good man, and usually quite intelligent. I spent last weekend there with him.

I'm glad he watched. Now he can at least have some clue as to what and who I'm talking about from now on.

Maybe it's shocking hearing all of that after not knowing about ANY of it.

No, it didn't happen: https://www.politifact.com/factchec...of-trump-requested-10000-guard-troops-jan-6-/

DC politicians put together a prime time dog and pony show, and your concern is whether the network will air it? The fact that CSPAN isn't the source of truth on this tells us all we need to know.

I'm sorry that you felt your dad would be educated by political grandstanding. Sorry for your dad. Did you really need to parade your family business here?

I guess I was wrong after all. Nothing partisan about this.

<snicker>

Taxes and death aren't the only things in this life that are certain.

Liz Cheney is such a grandstanding partisan hack. Amirite?

If you think the hearings are partisan, MSNBC has a montage below what the GOP legislators said right after the insurrection. Minute 1:40 for McConnell but then minute 2:36 for the full montage:

i kind of want to post this on a conservative message just to see if anyone’s knee-jerk reaction is to say “lMcConnell is a RINO.”

I'll grant a measure of credit to Cheney and Pence for opposing criminal actions by their coalition (golf clap), but I don't understand the liberals praising them. It reminds me of a Chris Rock bit...

She's a "fake" Republican, or so I hear (they don't even know of the term RINO). Most people know nothing beyond the sound bites and a few talking points.

Oh ya I heard this one tonight. Biden = high gas prices. How many times have I shown this person that they are wrong on that point? What the ****** ****?

It doesn't matter whether something is true or not. What matters is what people believe.

Reminds me of the overblown praise that those like Kemp got. Okay, he refused to commit obvious felonies that he quite certainly couldn't have gotten away with at Trump's whim while he was under quite a bit of ongoing scrutiny that was further compounded by his body of work. Truly, such hero material! Such a firm backbone!

Credit where credit is due, certainly, but the media double standards were and are incredible.

FTFY

But of course, I don't expect you will watch any of it, you'll just...

... because you are not interested in hearing or seeing anything that might cause you to question your preconceived ultra-conservative, Trump loving worldview!

To be fair, they did not spend much time saying "there were good people on both sides".

Speaking of predictable....

Trump on the Jan. 6 hearing:

"So the Unselect Committee of political HACKS refuses to play any of the many positive witnesses and statements, refuses to talk of the Election Fraud and Irregularities that took place on a massive scale, and decided to use a documentary maker from Fake News ABC to spin only negative footage. Our Country is in such trouble!"

"positive witnesses and statements"? Like "hang Mike Pence"? " “Thinking about heading over to Pelosi [expletive]’s speech and putting a bullet in her noggin on Live TV,”? “I may wander over to the Mayor’s office and put a 5.56 in her skull,”? "This is war, baby,"?

And My Pillow Guy, don't forget this mentally ill crazy person who believes they have some evidence they don't have. Then there is that crazy lawyer, Sydney Powell who may or may not be disbarred for bringing frivolous cases about voter fraud to the courts.

Rump believes he was robbed and these people feed his delusions. He wants the Jan 6th committee to include gaslighting. The sad thing is how many millions of cult followers believe him.

I thought what Cheney said rang true: 'There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain'.

The testimony of documentary maker Nick Quested (who was embedded with the Proud Boys making a documentary about them) was interesting. He said he was surprised to see the group of 200+ Proud Boys actually walking away from the Ellipse where the Fat Orange Turd was going to speak later, down towards the Capitol at about 10:30am on January 6. That is a long time before the breach of the Capitol and subsequent riot actually started. They walked around to a couple of the approaches to the building.

That activity looks suspiciously like they were checking to see what defences were in place, looking for weak points to attack later.

This morning John Solomon broke a blockbuster story, based on documents he managed to obtain, that Trump authorized at least 20,000 National Guard troops at least four days before the January 6 riot but Pelosi turned down every request to use the troops.

Several other posters have already commented on this, but did anyone bother to actually look at the source?

From: Mediabias Factcheck
Questionable Reasoning: Conspiracy Theories, Propaganda, Numerous Failed Fact Checks
Bias Rating: FAR RIGHT
...
MBFC Credibility Rating: LOW CREDIBILITY

John Solomon serves as the Editor-in-Chief. Solomon was formerly a journalist with The Hill, leaving the paper in October 2019. Solomon’s reporting has been described as conspiratorial and pro-Trump.

From: Wikipedia
In January 2018, newsroom staffers at The Hill criticized Solomon's reporting as having a conservative bias and missing important context, and asserted that this undermined The Hill's reputation.
...
Solomon worked closely with Lev Parnas, an associate of Rudy Giuliani - Trump's personal attorney – who was indicted for funneling foreign money into American political campaigns, to promote stories that Democrats colluded with a foreign power
...
Solomon was accused of breaking the traditional ethical "wall" that separated news stories from advertising at The Hill.

So an individual (Solomon) who has shown questionable ethical standards in the recent past, writes something for a far-right, pro-Trump web site known for publishing conspiracy theories, and you are accepting it as "the truth"?

It doesn't matter whether something is true or not. What matters is what people believe.

If that is the case, then it matters what kind of people you are sharing a country with.
A country that operates on belief and actively shies away from facts is certain to self-destruct.

Tonight on Hannity, Solomon will discuss another newly obtained document that shows that the FBI warned the capitol police that they had intel that some of the protestors planned on storming the Capitol and committing violent actions, and that this information was conveyed to one of Sen. Schumer's aides but Schumer did nothing about it.

So it seems that Pelosi and Schumer may have actually wanted to allow radical Trump protestors to storm the Capitol so they could blame the riot on Trump, when it turns out that Trump was the one who approved 20,000 NG troops to protect the Capitol, that Pelosi and Schumer were the ones who rejected all requests to deploy troops, and that Schumer sat on intel that there some protestors would storm the Capitol.

Straight-up, bare-faced lies and right wing disinformation. How do we know this?

1. The SOLE source (justthenews.com) is a right-wing ultraconservative disinformation source, and John Solomon is a known pathological liar.

2. Fact checking in the story shows it is FALSE https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/pelosi-national-guard-capitol/

3. Absolutely NONE of the Fat Orange Turd's White House staff support this claim.

The question I have is, how does he justify not calling in the National Guard on January 6? Under 10 USC § 254 (a.k.a the Insurrection Act) POTUS can authorise National Guard Troops to be deployed without recourse or consultation...

10 USC § 254
"Whenever the President considers it necessary to use the militia or the armed forces under this chapter, he shall, by proclamation, immediately order the insurgents to disperse and retire peaceably to their abodes within a limited time."

Of course, we now know why, don't we? He wasn't exactly going to sic the troops on his own people, the very people he asked to come to DC; the very people he wound up into a violent frenzy; the very people he sent to the Capitol to interfere with the counting of EC votes.

It is important to realize that invoking 10 USC § 254 is entirely in POTUS' purview - neither the House or Senate leader have power to stop him. VP Mike Pence tried to call the National Guard in, twice, but he didn't have the authority.

It's unlikely this bring any new ammo to take Trump to court. But perhaps there are some measures that can be taken for the safety of DC. They work there and fund everything. Congresss should have great input in their own safety on government property. Speaker of the house or Senate should be able to demand safety from homeland security. Some dedicated part of it that is not under the president.
