FOX News has announced that they will not be airing the hearings, so hard to imagine that any maga people will even accidentally see any of the hearings.

Wonder if that will change when they see it getting lots of viewers. My guess is they want to pre-screen it for soundbites that fit their deceptive narrative.

I am waiting for the smoke to clear from the committee's investigation. I have seen reports that one or two high-ranking Republicans have stated that Trump made statements to them to the effect that he wanted the riot to continue a bit longer. If there is credible evidence that Trump said this, I would hope that the GOP would repudiate him and expel him from the party.

What reality are you living in?

But you can bet the FOX pundits will be all over it it telling us how Fake News it is.

Maybe it's just me but if I felt that my vote didn't matter when picking which of the only 2 candidates who could win, I would consider it even more pointless to vote for someone I knew with certainty could not win.

Exactly, all this system does is put idiots in power, why vote, the MAGA Rule Kentucky.

MAGA rule my area of Georgia, too, but voting for the only candidate that could possibly beat whatever MAGA candidate is on the ticket kept Trump, Purdue, and Loeffler out of office. Whether or not Biden is a good Pres, he is a damn sight better than a second Trump term.

Not voting, or voting for a candidate that you know won't even get 5% of the vote allows the worst choice to win.

In Kentucky the Democrats always pick the people they know are going too lose, it's not logical.

Does Kentucky have primaries? Here in GA, we get to pick which candidate we want to see on the main ticket.

Let me repeat, GA has been safely Red for decades....until now it isn't. That's not because people are choosing not to vote or choosing to throw away their vote to just let the MAGA crowd keep winning.

Kentucky always picks the moderate that wants to try to work with the MAGA Crowd, and they lose to the Republican because they don't fight hard enough.

They are going to try to make Sean Hannity look like a Hero in this, but anyone watching the real hearings will know he is an evil Clown that didn't even Graduate Clown College.

Just had a very infuriating and frustrating conversation in the lunch room at work. There is a co-worker here that I otherwise get along with pretty well. Pre-covid we had brief conversations about politics, but nothing too serious. He was fond of Trump. We're Canadian, don't forget. We had friendly back and forth, but it was fine.

Today I was curious if someone like him and soured at all since last we spoke. Given everything that has happened in the interim, I was hoping maybe his opinion may have shifted. He and I were the only two in the lunch room and I just casually asked if he was going to watch the hearings on Thursday. He replied with "That's nothing but a witch hunt"

Things got relatively heated but basically the same old crap: Trump is not responsible for Jan 6 because he said "peacefully". And the usual what about BLM destroying the country for 8 months prior? What about senile, old Biden? The press was so mean to Trump, etc, etc.

Makes me angry and sick. If someone like Trump were to pop up here in Canada, he would most likely support and vote for that person.

My brain is broken. I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone could say anything positive about Trump, much less be like "yeah, I could use some of that in this country" I am so mad. I just want to strangle him.

We both agreed that we can never, ever discuss politics again together at work. Makes you wonder how many other closet fascists are lurking about.

To poke at a tangent here briefly, I very much do not like FPTP and the predictable entrenching of two main parties that proceeds from it. Ranked Choice is much better overall and helps remove the worst barriers for 3rd/4th party voting, as well as helps to moderate the selections to better reflect the will of the people.

Similar to how I've said elsewhere that we need to not focus on how stupid MAGA politicians are and instead realize that they say stupid things because they want to destroy truth, trust in experts, etc., we need to focus less on how differently people can think than us and figure out how we can possibly share our lunchroom, our community, our country, and our planet with them, because we have no choice but to share all those things with them.

In both cases, we have to put aside our emotional reactions to stupidity, different values, etc., and get realistic about how to get along - not for idealistic reasons, and not for the purpose of compromise, necessarily, but because we are chained at the wrist with them, to a greater or lesser extent, so we better figure out what our plan of action is given that reality.
