Cont: Cancel culture IRL Part 2

Says the fellow who just rocked up to the situation and hasn't followed any of the key events as they unfolded.

Sorry I didn't mean to discount your valid lived experience.

eta: Where's the jerking off emoji when you need one?

And you can be 100% sure that the "cancelled" whatsitcalled podcast will re-emerge in a few months tops and some people will be very silent about it.

"Cancelled" my ass.

Just so we're clear.

Steve: "I don't hire black people!" is NOT cancel culture.
Someone goes on Twitter and points out that Steve doesn't hire black people which causes a social backlash and that's... pause for dramatic effect while I put it in the biggest quotation marks I can find "CANCEL CULTURE!."

In retrospect, a nobody social media account declaring a cancellation occurred is exactly the level of serious evidence I should have come to expect for this made up panic.

What exactly am I supposed to glean from this comment from a nobody with 69 followers that got 0 likes or engagement? if I manage to get twice as many followers and reply saying "no its not", does that undo the magic spell?

I think we can agree that Steve actually needed to be cancelled in that hypothetical case, which doesn't remotely resemble what actually happened at Reply All.

Seems like there is a committee which decides who actually needs to be cancelled . How can I join? Or are ultra woke leftist SJWs not allowed?

ETA:
Oh, btw, they (the podcast guys) are not out of a job, if anyone wondered. They will do another podcast. Cancel Culture obviously means anything "the Committee" wants it to mean.

Have you checked to see whether the podcast in question actually got cancelled subsequent to this prediction?

Jerk off motion needed again.

The show having a massive workplace blowup and falling out resulting in the show unwinding and getting cancelled isn't cancel culture, unless this made up phenomena has now expanded to the point of being hyper literal. An irreconcilable falling out among the key players of the show over workplace and material issues and failing to recreate the magic of the program that is largely personality driven after the nasty divorce hardly strikes me as cancel culture. Sounds like ordinary showbiz interpersonal and workplace drama.

There's probably some interesting things to be said about the reply all debacle. The role that personalities, on-air vibes, and the parasocial relationship with the audience play in making a podcast successful, and how those audience impressions can conflict with behind-the-scenes realities. Or a discussion about the frequent hypocrisy that exists in these circles of pleasantly inoffensive NPR/nerd types that quietly perpetuate exploitative or other unsavory practices all the while signaling opposite virtues. Or how a small, beloved company can turn into a monster as it grows and becomes more profitable. Lots to talk about, assuming you don't try to fit a square peg through a round hole in service of the "cancel culture" hobby horse.

Your logic here is as follows: Someone tweeted something. The thing they tweeted ended up happened. Therefore, the tweet made it happen.

You see how moronic that is, right?

Or, and hear me out, twitter is magic and anything this one account tweets will come true!

This "example" has some slight "Those entitled ultra woke black people did it again. How dare they claim their workplace is not great. I bet they were lying all along"-vibes.

This all sounded a bit familiar. Didn’t Bon Appetite have a similar problem with their famous Test Kitchen YouTube video creators? In fact it did, and that was covered by a podcast. Which podcast? Not really that important since it surely wouldn’t be the very one that just imploded for similar reasons. God, if only we could monetize irony.
