Well, it is pretty easy to run into active gunfire from the comfort of the internet. I imagine this isn't a situation they encounter daily.

Yeah it's totally unreasonable to expect police to be ready for something that school children have to drill for.

Seriously all this warrior cop macho ********* and when there's actually a need for a militarized, aggressive response all of the sudden every cop is an uwu smoll bean.

ETA: The "thin blue line" refers to the perimeter around a school shooting cops stand on waiting for the gunfire to end.

It's a situation I have encountered in real life, the Crazy people who shoot at people can't be stopped unless people take action. These idiots are taking vengeance for wrongs they Imagine because they don't have the Brains to admitt they are the cause of their own problems. They want to go out in a blaze of Glory because they can't handle the stress of their own lives, and they want to take as many Innocent people with them as they can.
It's pure Insanity and if Cops can't handle it they shouldn't be cops.

They actually stopped unarmed parents from trying to run in and do something.

This isn't a keyboard warrior thing. People really do try to stop these things, with little concern for their personal comfort.

And I could give a **** what they encounter on the daily. They spend time drilling and training for shooter situations, and that's what we actually have the useless sons of bitches for. Did you already forget about the Border Patrol guys who went in?

We don't have cops to give out traffic tickets to pay them to run a department that gives out traffic tickets. We have them for pretty much one reason: This ****. Then they can kick back and munch donuts and bask in the glory of people waving thin blue line flags. But when it's time to go to work, punking out is not an option.

The gun nutters would like to arm teachers. Who are around kids. Who, like any human, could have a mental breakdown and use that gun.

Those same gun nutters, rabidly pro carry everywhere, will have a conference of gun nutters where guns are not permitted.

My brain explodes at the hypocrisy. Talk about effectively admitting to the danger guns pose.

Man. Just a totally screwed up, insane state of affairs. It really is the inmates who are running the asylum. And the sane folk can't do squat to assert the slightest control.

This requires a specialized response. Sure, some random people might be willing to run into an active combat zone unarmed and/or without a plan. That is a great way to stack up more dead bodies.

I think there is a big difference between calling the cops unprepared and calling them "cowards". And, obviously more details are needed.

Until you have Rushed into gun fire you don't know how you will react, that's why they have training it a scary time when bullets kick the pieces of pavement up around your feet.

Not 'free to': should be forced to. He has no business with a gun if he is afraid to use it when needed.

As you said earlier, no one should be blamed for being a coward. Actually, you can't even call them cowards if they avoid situations where courage is required. That's just being honest. Being a cop in an active school shooting is not a situation where cowardice can be tolerated.
 
Since Columbine, the guidance has been that law enforcement enters the school pronto. That's one of the arguments for having a cop on site -- to engage the shooter. Not to drive to the local donut shop and explain the situation to fellow officers.
 
Jesus just tell them to imagine the shooter is an unarmed black man doing nothing, they'll kill him in no time.
