Pat Robertson's at it again

Is that the same Ted Haggard who threatened Richard Dawkins with arrest because he (Ted) claimed that Dawkins had called his children "animals" because Dawkins concludes evolution is the correct explanation for biological diversity? If so he doesn't seem that much er more level headed then Robertson?

I'm not familiar with the incident in question, but hey... I don't have to agree with everything the guy does.

So, the evidence mounts that he's a nutter.

Was Dawkins invited, or just "pop in"?

Presumably it was set up in advance.

Well, as a general rule, I think you can agree that TV is an incredable Urban Legend Locus, so sphenisc can be justified in his hesitation. I do agree that you have more than satisfied, at least, my curiosity in this subject.

Don't disagree with that however also just because it is on TV should not be a reason for instant dismissal.

That being said, I don't think we can put Haggard up to the level of the other nutters, as he's missing the all-critical name recognition. Also, if BeProf is correct, and he came out against Ol' Pat, then he can't be all bad.

Never quite bought into the argument of "the enemy of my enemy is a friend" ;) And after seeing the programme and reading up on him a bit more I think he just needs time to raise his profile up and then he would be a worthy successor!

True, just used, much like Wikipedia, as a starting point, not an ending one.

I wasn't suggesting that you have Haggard over for tea anytime soon, just that he's not 100% nutter quite yet, maybe 70 - 80%.

And, no BeProf, you HAVE to like everything he says, that's the point of having religion, don'tcha know.

That was priceless! I am so making a bumpersticker out of "There's nothing worse than a butthead for Jesus."
Hi FS...I wish you weren't so hostile towards Christianity.
I do apologize if I said things that hurt you or were taken wrong.
I did not mean to seem harsh with any of my past statements towards you.
I know you are not a believer, but I am!

But seriously when I saw this remark I had to share this with you..I did have a bumper sticker made to pass out at the Spirit West Coast Concert last summer...it says " Don't Be Caught Dead Without Jesus" and I really feel this way. It was inspired by a tragedy that happened to one of Sonora teens last summer who died in a car crash. I really hoped he new Jesus.

Also I have had my own near death experiences! Believe it or not!!

What am I, your personal crusade?

Are you really so thick as to think it's Christianity I am hostile toward?

Please reread this thread.

No I do not think you are my personal crusade. But you were the first person I met when I joined this forum and I feel bad that we got off on the wrong foot. Remember you got mad and told me to take my conviction to another thread so I did. When I started that thread..Why is the an gospel an offense I wasn't very well prepared to answer questions from an atheistic point of view. I really didn't know many here are professing atheists.

I guess I am concerned that many people seem to be hostile towards Christianity...including you! Am I wrong? Do you have any other Christian friends that you like or talk to??

Well that's a relief.

I have many. You seem to be missing the point that Pat Robertson and Fred Phelps aren't very nice people. Pat has repeatedly said nasty and hateful things in the name of Christianity and God. Fred has said and done nasty things himself, including shotgunning a boy's dog to death for defacating on his lawn, right in front of that boy.

Several congregants chose to stand by Phelps and left Eastside with him. However, following an incident in which a stoned and drunken Phelps shotgunned to death a German Shepherd in front of a six-year-old because the dog had defecated on his lawn, the majority of Phelps' initial supporters left and returned to Eastside.

It is not Christianity I am hostile toward. If you would actually READ what I wrote you would know that.

I gotcha. These guys I guess have said and done things that leave people questioning if they are real Christians or not. I personally have not found too many of the really good Bible study teachers on TV. There is another broadcasting company I like better than TBN it's WORD. A few there have seemed ok, but I don't really follow them.

Questioning?

There is no questioning if these guys are true Christians. They aren't. Hence the hostility.

No one that shotguns a 6 year old's dog in front of that boy is a Christian. People that call for the assasination of another country's leader (like Robertson did) aren't Christians.

ETA: Drop your preconceptions about athiests, and you may find you agree with them on alot more than you think.

Point taken. I just don't want to do God's job which is the final say. I pray for everyone of us to get our hearts and lifes right with God, especially those guys!

I'm suprised that PETA didn't run out and shoot him for offing the dog.

Pat "Robber-of-Men" needs to get a life. Sherome was trying to do his job and bring some stability to the region. His stroke was a blood clot. A CLOT for God's sake! God didn't smite him. If God smote him, then he would be dead. I think God smiles down on him for trying to forge peace with the Palestinians and spared his life because of that. With the available treatments, he should survive, albiet crippled from the stroke's damage due to the severity of it. I hope God sends a rabid doberman to bite him in the can, and put him out of OUR misery.

Good ed PETA. Don't get me started on those wackos.

I wish God would smite Pat Robertson.

Fowl, no one likes PETA. I prefer the other acronym for it, People Eating Tasty Animals.

Don't worry. God will smite Pat Robertson. I pray for it each night, although I would like to be the one doing the smiting. With a large-caliber snipers rifle.

That is just what Christians have always done.
