The Russian Invasion of the Ukraine.

The Ukranians are claiming that Russia has "lost" 4000+ soldiers during the invasion. I don't know if that's supposed to mean deaths or just referring to general casualties.

The Russians are not saying anything, even censoring any mention of "invasion, war, attack". Tv shows are running as normal and news programs do not mention anything.

And that's just it - if it was some media being pro-Putin and another anti-Putin I'd at least understand it as interests or propaganda.

I'm talking the same news outlet making it sound like half the time Ukraine is about to fall apart and an hour later reports that make them nothing short of a less homo-erotic 300 movie.

It's just baffling.

Sorry if my post wasn't clear, that is one thing I have 0 doubts about.
Half of my company are Ukraine citizens, I have plenty of colleagues there.

My company at least made it perfectly clear that have a blank check and we'll take care of anything financial they need - no questions asked and no receipts needed. It's the least we can do but sadly almost the only thing we can do.

There's also a massive gathering of high tech companies in our company, as a lot of them have Ukraine employees, to both donate funds and other services as well as combine to put more pressure on the government to increase aid and try to take more refugees.

They actually have quite a lot of power in our country, I hope they succeed.
 
More reports of Russian tanks without fuel.
The Ukrainians let the armor pass by and are hitting the 'tail' cutting off supplies.
Most Russian casualties are the support and logistics vehicles and troops.
Classic 'stay behind' and insurgency tactics.

An armoured division on the move uses up to 750,000 litres a day. In action that can go up to 1.5 million litres of fuel per day

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced sharp hikes in the country's defence spending.
Speaking at an emergency session of the German parliament he said €100 billion ($113 bn) will be added to Berlin's military budget this year.

It means Germany will now spend more than 2% of its annual GDP on defence, a longstanding NATO target the country has previously failed to meet - despite pressure from the US, and in particular former President Donald Trump.

Chancellor Scholz says the world has "entered a new era" following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and that "there could be no other answer to Putin's aggression".
 
The French Foreign Legion has said that it will allow its Ukrainian soldiers to return to Ukraine

Well, they are being given 'leave' so maybe their friends will ask for 'leave' at the same time.
That way they can pursue their hobbies.

Looking at what's been happening so far - including the central bank appealing for calm, I'm not sure that highlighted word is entirely justified

It's a strategy in the same way as 'kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will collapse' was a strategy.

Kharkiv back under Ukrainian control, says governor

Ukrainian forces have regained control of the key city of Kharkiv, the regional governor has said.

In a post on Telegram, Oleh Synyehubov said: "Control over Kharkiv is completely ours!
"The armed forces, the police, and the defence forces are working, and the city is being completely cleansed of the enemy."

Russian troops were able to enter the city, Ukraine's second largest, overnight.
Footage circulated on social media showed street fighting between Ukrainian and Russian troops.

The situation on the ground remains fluid and claims of control are hard to verify - but civilians on the ground have also told the BBC that Kharkiv is back under Ukrainian control and that conflict on the streets is easing.
