The Russian Invasion of the Ukraine.

As Poland is a member of NATO I doubt Putin has plans to attack there. That would invoke the musketeer clause in the NATO treaty triggering all-out war.

I think it depends on whether Putin can convince NATO members that he's ready and willing to go nuclear. If so, he's in the drivers seat.

Make it personal for Putin and his friends. There was enough information in the Panama papers to make it clear that he had been putting money in banks outside Russia. Go after any assets they have. Either confiscate them or make them disappear.

Any travel to a country not allied with Russia should get those officials detained.

Cut off communications and get real about restricting anything going into Russia that isn't food. That one will be a problem since China just doesn't care.

The days of peak dollar supremacy are behind us. The US still has enormous power to incur massive societal damage anywhere in the globe through economic sanction, but it's waning every day as countries that are adversarial to the US slowly develop viable alternatives, mostly based on a rising China.

It should go without saying that the least the US and EU could do is open their doors to any Ukrainian refugee who wants to escape, with the usual caveats barring any known neo-nazi or terrorist types.

Given the current state of xenophobia in the US, I'm not optimistic that this will happen.

The fact you have to mention Nazis and terrorists specifically kinda helps Russia's argument that terrorists and Nazis are a threat to Russians in Ukraine.

What could happen is some sort of inadvertent air conflict over Polish or Roma Nisan airspace between NATO and Russian planes. Who knows where that might lead?

Naked Russian aggression doesn't change the plain fact that Ukranian neo-nazis and other extremist right wing elements are a threat to a variety of targeted ethnic groups, and there's zero reason to allow such elements into the country.

Russia agrees with you that Ukraine has neo Nazi and extremist elements targeting ethnic groups.

Russia says their goal is simply to get rid of Nazis and pro-Nazi people.

WTF does that mean??????????????

Is their Jewish President a Nazi????

That ship has sailed: for MAD to work, all sides have to demonstrate a commitment to rational decision making. Putin has removed himself from the nuclear deterrent Framework, as we have to absolutely assume that he would nuke Kiew if he can't capture it.

The West has to make it clear that they won't violate Russia territorial integrity, but everything beyond its borders is fair game at this point, nukes or not.

Stop buying gas from Russia. It will hurt Europe, but we can't continue to finance the Putin regime.
