Not really germane to my former field that one.

However, when I was a baby nurse in the late '80s we were expected to clean and prep (wrap in a sheet, no body bags then) the body prior to it being taken from the ward to the morgue.

If nurses don't do it, then who does?

Yes, there was an large anti-vax movement, which did result in some changes to local political representation (Shock! Horror! Folk vote in elections! Folk make decisions on things they know sod all about! Welcome to representative democracy). However, the public health measures were not necessarily opposed by many medics, but were derived from actions already taken in several places in England. To claim that these then "eradicated smallpox" is over-claiming by a large extent.

This is because Petra, like all conspiracy theorists and science deniers, does not seem understand the basic principle that science is a self-correcting process; that when new observations, new evidence and new research contradicts previous conclusions, science changes its conclusions to account for the new observations, new evidence and new research.

This is why we now know things like the fact that Mercury and Venus are not tidally locked to the Sun as they were once thought to be.
This is why we now know that atoms are not indivisible as we once thought they were.
This is why we now know that germs cause disease and not "bad air" (miasma) as was once thought to be the case.

New evidence, new observations and new research all result in either changing or confirming scientific conclusions. They have been doing so for hundreds of years, and they will continue to do so in the future. However, conspiracy theorists and science deniers live in a world where their preconceived conclusions are immutable - they simply cannot conceive of a methodology in which conclusions can be shaped by observations, evidence and facts, so they call the observations "fake", they hand-wave away evidence and the deny the facts.

They actually see this as a weakness. See, for example, all their complaints about Fauci changing his position as new evidence became available.

You're just mad that the people who made the vaccines and are getting us out of the pandemic accomplished something. They matter. Why do you matter? What have you accomplished? All you do is shake your fist at the forces shaping now and our future. Those forces can't even be bothered to notice you. You're mad because you don't count for anything and people saving our lives do.
