Cont: The Biden Presidency Part II

No need to stop & wonder; it's so bad it keeps jumping out & screaming at me.

You would think that, if you weren't aware that support among the populace does not equal support among the politicians because the politicians primarily work for who pays them.

You make good points. That said, I'm sure there's big money in bridge repair that would be ecstatic about a guaranteed quarter by quarter revenue stream coming out of Congress.

Of course Trump could regain power. Of course. I'm just saying it's less likely than people seem to assume. Granted, I was completely wrong about 2016, but that was a fluke others can learn from, especially flesh-eating Republican rivals who crave power. Regardless of who secures the nomination, securing instructured-delegate style voting in the EC is important, as it's totally possible a candidate could lose the popular vote, end up with fewer votes in the EC, yet still win the presidency. It's happened before.

Republican Party to Require Their 2024 Presidential Candidate (Trump) to Boycott Debates

Trump chose to be a whining, gormless coward when it came to the debates, so now, it looks like the Republican Party is gearing up to give him an out. That he'd pretty certainly be questioned on his potentially treasonous actions during the debates might well play into that, too, though.

Among other factors, when we've got Republican Senators with a history of praising and co-sponsoring a bill, then condemning it a few days later when Democrats stated that they were willing to support it, your attempt to oversimplify the issues at hand to "policy disagreements" can be summarily dismissed as absurd.

And Republicans just keep refusing or undermining such because they're not getting enough in the way of kickbacks to make it worth their while?

I understand suppressing votes, but what is your objection to the legislature picking the electors? That seems an incredibly clear, constitutional process. There is zero bad actors in that scenario.

Are you kidding? You think the legislature should pick the electors instead of the voters? No matter what the majority of the voters want? Do you really need to have the problem explained to you?

Awwwww....are the little snowflakes upset that they don't get to choose the moderators (IOW: that they think will favor them)?

Ronna McDaniel, the RNC head, whined:

The RNC has a duty to ensure that its future presidential nominees have the opportunity to debate their opponents on a level playing field,” states the letter signed by RNC head Ronna McDaniel, before accusing the commission of "stonewalling" requests for changes from the GOP. McDaniel's letter continues: "The RNC will take every step to ensure that future Republican presidential nominees are given that opportunity elsewhere.

Republicans have complained in recent years that the commission is biased against GOP candidates. That dissatisfaction came to a head in 2020, after a series of clashes between the commission and then-President Donald Trump and his allies.

This is all about trying to control the who, what, and where of the debates. I say F'em.

They know Trump's mental condition continues to get worse so they don't want to showcase just how much of a shadow of his former self he is now.

I'd love to see Trump have a meltdown when pressed about Jan. 6 and his lies about the 'stolen' election. Because you know he would not be able to control himself if pressed hard enough.

Yes, I need the problem explained.

His voters won't want him to control himself.

Shocking the libs and saying the quiet part out loud is big part of his appeal. I really thought we'd be done with the idea that shame would have any impact on him or his voters.

I come back to this question now. What should Biden do?

His legislative agenda is dead. He hasn't really shown much aggression with executive orders, but it's pretty safe to say that the right wing SCOTUS would slap most of them down even if he had the gumption.

He's well and truly hamstrung. What should he spend his precious time doing?

The only thing I can really think of is that the party should expel Sinema and Manchin from their ranks. It's an absolute embarrassment that the Senate is gridlocked while the Democrats have, at least on paper, the majority. What good is allowing a conservative like Sinema on their side if she won't toe the line when it comes to basic stuff like voting rights? Whatever benefit the party gets from their inclusion is surely eclipsed by how badly they are beclowning themselves right now.

It's not much, but that's all I can even think of.

There is a Venn diagram of things that are popular, would get 50 votes, and covered.by reconciliation. Just pass those. Then pass the ones that get 60 votes for cloture. Then come back to the popular, reconciliation, needs haggling to solve.

That probably sounds obvious, but it worked for infrastructure. I don't have a clue how they thought their voting rights bill would pass.

Fail so you can go "I told you so."

Being mad about it won't make it less true.

Biden is very experience and a savvy institutional operator. The problem is that the right is determined to make sure these institutions no longer function, and are very effective. I suppose it is a bit appropriate that a long time Senate wheeler and dealer is the one getting senate-gridlocked towards a one term presidency.

Honestly Biden should probably just treat the rest of his term as a giant campaign rally. Go out there and wave the bloody shirt, whip up the liberal mob. The only chance of success is a groundswell of liberal voters, banging his head against the wall in DC won't help that.

That's all fine and dandy but no one goddamn person reading your posts believes for a second that's really where your concern lies.

Your mask has slipped too many times, revealing the exact same spite driven mentality as the Trumpers.

You want the system to fail because you believe your "side" rising from the ashes is inevitable, the same as the Trumpers. You have no other motivation.

I seriously I wonder how you would react to a Far Left Progressive January 6th.
