It only needs one person to not get rid of everything though.

...and to come forward with it to the investigation (as opposed to hanging onto it for a tell all book once Boris Johnson is out of office)...

...and to have it allowed to be used by the investigation (as opposed to having the contents suppressed for national security reasons)...

...and to have it accepted by the investigation as being within its remit - after all it may only consider "Claimed parties in the time period x to y" when this is a confirmed party and/or is in time period z...

Plenty of opportunity for a sufficiently motivated investigation leader to have it swept under the carpet.

Conservative MPs making it very clear IMO that they're still cutting Boris Johnson plenty of slack....

That is a clear message to Boris Johnson: if he was there, and knew that an event had be planned, he'd have to go.

Plenty of "ifs" there to give him plausible deniability...

He was there but supposed that it was an impromptu thing (for which various tables happened to be found) - that's fine

He knew it was planned but didn't actually attend - that's fine

He knew it was planned and just happened to be in his own back garden at the time - that's fine (though of course he actually lives at number 11)

I'm sure that the majority of Conservative MPs will find a way to convince themselves that what Boris Johnson did was absolutely fine.

When is the assessment of BlowJob under the Mental Capacity Act to be carried out?

He cleary has severe problems with his short and medium term memory, probably long term also; he has displayed numerous other cognitive deficits (word finding on a daily basis, highlighted by that awful speech to the CBI at Port of Tyne; issues with numeracy, as shown by not being able to count how many children he has nor understanding that remuneration of around £300k is not chicken feed; confabulation on a daily basis; other language problems, as he randomly inserts words and phrases in some other tongue which have dubious relevance); his self-care, as shown by his mode of dress and inability to do his hair, is poor; physical coordination problems.

The man comes over as a neurological mess.

Rishi Sunak will miss PMQs he's suddenly in Ilfracombe. Significant.

I'm half-expecting Boris Johnson to miss PMQs either because he's got to do something important w.r.t. the UK's "World-leading vaccine rollout" and/or he's got a bit of a poorly tummy so nanny has excused him.

Well that is one excuse I didn't expect.

I attended but didn't know it was a party.

I'd add a jaw-dropping smilie but it seems to have been worn out.

I wish the PM had told everyone else it was OK to have work parties. Boy, could we have done with a party at my work.

Apparently Boris Johnson's apology is heartfelt.

Well if that isn't a blatant lie, I don't know what is. The apology was reluctant, and forced and Boris Johnson doesn't think he should have had to give it because he did nothing wrong.

Here is Boris Johnson's apology - a litany of lies

Mr Speaker, I want to apologise. I know that millions of people across this country have made extraordinary sacrifices over the last 18 months. I know the anguish that they have been through - unable to mourn their relatives, unable to live their lives as they want or do the things they love. And I know the rage they feel with me and with the government I lead, when they think that in Downing Street itself the rules are not being properly followed by the people who make the rules."
And though I cannot anticipate the conclusions of the current inquiry I have learned enough to know there were things we simply did not get right and I must take responsibility. Number 10 is a big department with the garden as an extension of the office - which has been in constant use because of the role of fresh air in stopping the virus. And when I went into that garden just after six on the 20th of May 2020, to thank groups of staff before going back into my office 25 minutes later to continue working, I believed implicitly that this was a work event."
But, Mr Speaker, with hindsight I should have sent everyone back inside, I should have found some other way to thank them and I should have recognised that even if it could be said technically to fall within the guidance, there would be millions and millions of people who simply would not see it that way. People who suffered terribly - people who were forbidden from meeting loved ones at all, inside or outside. And to them and to this house I offer my heartfelt apologies. And all I ask is that Sue Gray be allowed to complete her inquiry into that day and several others so that the full facts can be established."

If Boris is saying it, I assume it’s a lie.

As for the impossible position Sue Gray is now in, perhaps that’s the point?

Does she have to accept the PM’s “implicit” belief in a work event was genuine?
If so, then what?

"there would be millions and millions of people who simply would not see it that way"

I've already heard a "The other lot will have been doing it"!

The country seems to have come to terms being led by a thick, lying bastard, we've shrugged our shoulders and in effect said, "what can we do?".
