Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 28

Dali had the right idea. He just signed pieces of paper and canvas and gave them to people to fill in

"Salvador Dali's surreal paintings were godsent
You'd never know he ate his own excrement"
-Henry Phillips, "On the Shoulders of Freaks"

(Accuracy not guaranteed. The song also references the propaganda about Catherine the Great and horses.)

I still marvel at the mind of anyone who sees equivalence between a president's son who uses his status to participate in the destruction of democracy and one who uses it to market questionable art.

There’s a fascinating album by Lou Reed and John Cale called “Songs for Drella”. It’s an ode/tribute to Andy Warhol. Quite a trip and worth a listen.

I was reminded of this lyric from the album:

“I've got a Brillo box and I say it's art
It's the same one you can buy at any supermarket
'Cause I've got the style it takes…”

For what it’s worth.

Marcel Duchamp got there first.

This should not be a surprise to anyone...

The U.S. intelligence community "struggled" to brief U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in 2016, achieving "only limited success" in educating and developing a relationship with the incoming president... in the words of former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, prone to "fly off on tangents."..."The irreconcilable difference, in Clapper's view, was that the IC worked with evidence," according to the history. "Trump 'was fact-free—evidence doesn't cut it with him'".... Trump rarely, if at all, read the daily classified briefing book...

They don't. They know they are nowhere near comparable, they are just daring us to do anything about it.

Again as I keep saying when someone who isn't wearing pants runs up to you and starts screeching that your fly is down, you noticing that he isn't wearing pants is something he's counting on.

"I don't want us to be held to the same standards, do something about it punk" is their entire flex. It's not some hypocrisy that's flying under their radar and they aren't aware of it. It's intentional. It's trolling. It's a whole bunch of things all of them dangerous and not good.

People don't act this insanely inconsistent without a plan.

Hyperbole much?

"the destruction of democracy"?

A few Tweets from a first-class idiot is not participating in the destruction of democracy. Methinks you're giving Jr dickhead a lot more credit than he deserves.

I like how the focus is on Hunter's art. Not his alcoholism, coke habit, and fact that he fathered a child with a woman and aggressively denied it. Bonus points that she was a stripper and he was so wasted he didn't even remember the encounter.

But that isn't important. We need to compare his art to that of Picasso and Warhol.

I'm sending this story over to The Babylon Bee. They won't need to change a thing. :D

That's because he's such a brilliant artist.

In the next few years his works will hang in the Louvre, no doubt overshadowing the pathetic daubings of Vermeer, da Vinci, Picasso, et al.

Half a mio will be seen as a snip.

I think his daddy is working tirelessly for the destruction of democracy, and though I don't credit the son with much effectiveness, he's certainly on that side, and participating. I quite expect he'd do more if he could.

How disheartening for the intelligence officials and analysts that they had to dumb down their reports just to get this guy to pay attention to, let alone understand, one of the most important functions of the job.

Trump would "listen to the key points, discuss them with some care, then lead the discussion to related issues and others further afield," according to the history.

It's a management style to cut to the chase and rely on your subject matter experts for clarification, when needed. Hardly outrageous.

Saying there are raving maniacs working to destroy everything isn't hyperbole when the raving maniacs really are working to destroy everything. Avoiding telling it like it is just to avoid sounding extreme would leave one unable to accurately describe things that actually are dementedly extreme.

As has been pointed out repeatedly: you brought this up.

You've been free at any time to introduce the topics you decry a lack of.

"You're not discussing this the way I want it discussed!"

Yeah, OK. Welcome to life.

I love the way it is being discussed, lol.

It is exactly what one would expect in this venue. :D

Now the thread is about Hunter Biden.

It didn't need to be. But nobody seemed to be able to say, "Good point. Both those kids are losers. Maybe it is a bit hypocritical to be mocking Trump's kid."

I even admitted neither was a winner. But nope, that isn't good enough, because, "GOP are bad! Dem is good!".

I get a beautiful sense of completeness when I go to SC and see the far-right morons complaining that the Democrats want to destroy USA, and are actively doing that, then come here and see people on the left complaining that the Trumpettes want to destroy USA, and are actively doing that. Hyperbole is a way of life for all of you.

It looks to me that each side is determined to drive the other further to whichever side they're not on.

Maybe both lots should calm the **** down for a while.

Either that or all buy guns and just go for it.
