Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 28

One person makes a comment on HB's art, and that gets a "you libs" reply.

As though all (D) must share the same opinions on art, and all (R) must share the same opinions on art?

Just another example of how ultra-partisan U.S. politics has gotten, and how anything gets weaponised.

(More so by some ...)

"Accomplished" because they were given accolades I don't think they were necessarily worthy of. Picasso was actually quite a good artist but his fame is derived from his non-realistic works. Blah. Warhol is a matter of taste. But come on, a painting of a frigging soup can or Brillo pads? Value is only what WE give it, and I think his work is blah. But that's art in a nutshell.
I think there's a difference between disparaging the artist and not liking the work. I don't have much use for most of Warhol's stuff either, but some of what makes an artist important is not just what he does but how and why. He did plenty before he started doing the prints and cans and boxes and whatnot. You or I might consider it a bad decision, but it was made by someone for whom a range of decisions was possible, and like it or not, even if you can't point to any individual work you like, what he did had an impact on the history of art.

We should probably leave it at that, as although I'd rather talk about art than T****, it's not really what this thread is supposed to be about. I will just add that I suspect I like abstraction more than some.

To poke at something that feels a bit like a rehash -

NBC News finds gentlest way possible to say Donald Trump will try to steal 2024 election

In this case -

Yes, "help" overturn the will of the voters if the majority of Michigan voters vote for Democratic candidates.

Do you really expect him to endorse candidates who don't strongly back him? It is wise strategy if he is planning a 2024 run. And, he seems pretty partial to anyone willing to wax his butt, historically.

The author of the article seems to be, to coin a term, "triggered".

It is a very funny article, though. :D

Looks like Donny has gotten bored with cheating at golf, and is now graduated to cheating in politics using the same tactics. He graduates from winning non-existent trophies to non-existent elections.

It's one thing to endorse supporters. That, as a general matter, is a fair strategy. That's not really the issue in the first place, though, as is kept rather clear.

The author of the article seems to be, to coin a term, "triggered".

Potentially so - and with excellent cause, if so.

"he got so triggered when I put my gun in his face! LOL!"

People usually get "triggered" (i.e. seriously concerned) by actual threats and dangers.

No Liberal ever got as triggered as a Maga-shirt when being told that Trump is not a billionaire.
Overusing the term is a strategy.

Especially when that threat/harm has actually happened and more effective and harmful repeats are actively being pursued.

Overusing the term is a strategy.

"Critical Race Theory" and "Cancel Culture" are a couple recent and ongoing examples of imaginary harms that right-wing propagandists are trying hard to make into triggers for their audiences, with disturbing amounts of success.

The obsession with calling people "triggered" has gotten to the point that some people with said obsession are acting like it just means anybody ever saying or thinking anything about anything which the triggering-obsessed people themselves don't say or think.

* * *

We should all hope Trump goes around loudly supporting those democracy-hating, dictatorship-pushing candidates all over the country, given the track record of the candidates he supports.

Come on now, you have to admit, the journalistic style of the article is a bit much to be taken seriously. It is a clearly a partisan rant....and a funny one.

The press has traditionally been one of the most important bulwarks against tyranny in this country, but they’re failing this test big-league. If Godzilla pokes his head out of the ocean and starts stomping on Orange Juliuses, you don’t run a headline that reads, “Enormous radioactive reptile goes long on Jamba Juice stock.”

it's just a schtick

LMFAO. What's next...you endorse his "work" that he did on that stripper?

You libs crack me up.

Oh, how cute! Surely you're not so naive as to be unaware of, or fail to imagine, the various and sundry pecadillos of many a great artist through history.

That is not a topic of discussion, obviously. We were discussing the behaviors of the children of Trump and Biden, not comparing their misadventures to those of famous artists.

And, it is magnificently fabulous to watch lib apologism at work.

You've becoming boring and predictable so off you go! Toodles.

We can certainly agree that Aldous J. Pennyfarthing is quite humorous, then. He's ever been fun to read, much as I do think that he makes mistakes at times.

Dali had the right idea. He just signed pieces of paper and canvas and gave them to people to fill in
