Free Britney!

......
Missing $600 million?
If correct, about $600 million dollars of Britney's wealth was siphoned off, with a public proclamation that Britney's wealth was valued at about $60 million dollars. So there are questions of who all was involved with that, and how that was done (it wasn't just Jamie).
.....

I found that number hard to believe. But for reference, Taylor Swift -- who is younger but benefits from the best management and advice -- is worth over $500M. It's entirely plausible that Spears could have been worth at least a couple hundred $M more than she is now.

A guide to who's been getting Britney's money:
Legal documents detail that the singer had been paying even the people she said acted against her wishes — like her father, his lawyers, and his security team. And as a conservatee, she hadn't had any kind of veto power over how her money has been spent.

Court filings show that a constellation of lawyers and family members have made money from their roles in the conservatorship, which was terminated Friday by a Los Angeles judge.

And Ronan Farrow's update:
She now faces a legal battle with those who once managed her life and money, including her father and former conservator, Jamie Spears, and her former business manager, Lou Taylor, who has, along with her company Tri Star, resisted efforts by Spears’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, to obtain her financial records.

I think they will be shielded by what appears to be the total control a conservatorship gives them.

I don't think so. Total control, sure. But it's supposed to be in the client's best interest. Like the rules for child actors put in place ummm 40s & 50s? Conservatorship made Britney a "child". "Reasonable fees"?

I think they will be shielded by what appears to be the total control a conservatorship gives them.

It's supposed to be within rules under court supervision. The conservators can't pay co-conspirators for undelivered services, which appears to be one issue, or just grab her money for their own purposes.

I'd particularly like to know what "her" court-appointed lawyer did for her to earn his $520,000 a year for 13 years.

In most abusive power of attorney authorizations/guardianships/conservatorships...abusers are (wrongfully) shielded. This could be through cronyism, nepotism, favoritism, conspiracy, collusion, inadequate laws, perversion of the rule of law, professional misconduct, ethics violations, failure by those in-the-know to report abuse/exploitation/fraud, the broken systems such as (including but not limited to) legal, religious organizations, judicial, political, financial; wealth management, accounting, medical, law enforcement...as well as other systems and issues.

Abusive power of attorney authorizations/conservatorships/guardianships, are 'legalized' isolating, looting and killing, machines.

So typically, you'd be correct saying they will be shielded by what appears to be the total control a conservatorship gives them.

But this abusive case is about pop icon and superstar Britney Spears, and the attention in the public's eye due to continued activism from the #FreeBritney movement—at a level never seen before.

Britney is alive and well to talk about it. Bet the abusers didn't expect this, because most people only get out of an abusive conservatorship/guardianship/power of attorney authorization—by dying. Their voice never heard. Their plight never shown.

Things were done to Britney that were not in her best interests.

California attorney Christopher Melcher said during a livestream on YouTube channel Popcorned Planet, that Britney can recover money if there was fraud, failure to disclose, or conspiracy. I get the sense fraud, failure to disclose, and conspiracy, took place during the formation, implementation, execution, and continuation of Britney's abusive, court-imposed/court-approved, conservatorship that started in 2008.

IANAL, but I get the sense that Britney's case involves violations of the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act. It remains to be proven through investigations and the courts, but I get the sense a number of people committed state and federal crimes against Britney Spears. If Rico violations are researched, investigated, and perpetrators are arrested, tried, and convicted, those responsible could face fines, prison, and forfeiture of ill-gotten gains.

So I get the sense Britney could file civil charges, and criminal charges, and, there will be cases brought by law enforcement as well.

The perpetrators will not be shielded (as typical of most abusive conservatorships) because of: the power of activism due to the #FreeBritney movement; attorney Mathew Rosengart and his legal team; and Britney's emotional strength, resilience, and perseverance.

Let's hope you're right about that.

It would seem they were to ensure she didn’t know it was meant to be a “voluntary” conservatorships and that she could apply to court to have it removed.

I notice that we haven't heard from Warp12 about the end of the conservatorship yet.

I still hold the same position: Let it all play out in court and with medical professionals. We will see what the final outcome is, in the end.

Now everyone has just switched gears to conjecture about how horrible the family is, and how they should be made to pay and suffer. There is no point in debating that. It is just speculation and people trying to spin their own little narratives.

You don't seem to grasp that it's over. Her conservatorship has ended. That is the final outcome. There is no longer any role for medical professionals unless Spears allows it on her own terms, and the only role for the courts will be in connection with investigations and possible civil and criminal prosecution of the people who abused her for 13 years.

Another conservatorship horror story.
The system of adult guardianship is intended to protect vulnerable elders. Instead, it’s lining the pockets of lawyers and guardians.

And:
The appointment of an unscrupulous guardian can happen to anyone. The practice is fully endorsed by some in the legal community who can mitigate liability or receivables risks by medical institutions, or illegally assume control of an estate. It is a problem in every state, the question being only to the degree by which it occurs.

I suppose so, in that medical evidence will be called up as a defense in the ensuing trials.

When do you think the rush to buy one way tickets to places with shelter accounts will begin?

Her conservatorship is over. She will make decisions about what happens next. "Medical professionals" have nothing to say about it.

Completely wrong. She has a history of mental illness, addiction and perhaps even self-harm. What is really happening here, is that when she becomes "free", her supporters really won't care about the ultimate results of their "movement". Of course, they will accept no responsibility if something horrible happens; in fact, they will surely blame the family.

Let's just see what happens. Hopefully it all works out well for her.
