AP News: "Let's go, Brandon" is really code for "**** Joe Biden"

It was a sports broadcast. It's a cliche for them to pretend to mishear these sorts of things or misread lips when it can't be otherwise avoided.

Finding something nefarious in pretending not to hear an obscene word when standard network practices are to avoid broadcasting that word is just beyond silly.

Of course, maybe this claim is stupid on purpose so that when I point out it is stupid I'm just being triggered so that makes this stupid claim clever. It is a stroke of luck that conservatives have made being tediously stupid out to be the height of wit because it plays to their strengths...

She could have ignored the chants, acknowledged them with a laugh, or done virtually anything else other than lie about them in an attempt to gaslight the audience. She went the clowntard route instead, and that is precisely why this is a meme now.

It is telling that this is scored as a win with no context about whether media concern over such puerile conduct is justified.

I mean, I think people who do this are idiots and I pretty much lose any respect for someone who uses this phrase in that way. If that counts as "outrage," then I guess I'm outraged.

People who have a problem with this aren't gnashing their teeth in righteous idealism as much as getting the same feeling I get when my toddler decides to try to fill the cab of a toy truck by spitting apple juice into it.

Where you equally as outraged when Bob DeNiro blessed the Tony Awards with his "**** Trump" speech? Is Bob DeNiro equivalent to your apple-juice-spitting toddler too?

Of course not, because you're a partisan collectivist ideologue, who only deals in double standards.

This reflects much of the media's and the political interests they represent disdain for truth, and the propensity to try and spin reality even when it's oblivious to them that it's an obvious lie to everyone else.

So what you're claiming is that Stavast deliberately lied about what the crowd was chanting even though anyone watching the interview would have known immediately that she was lying because "clearly what was being chanted was not 'difficult to make out' "? It's not because she misheard it. Have I got that right?

I would re-paste exactly what I wrote, but that wouldn't improve your ability to parse clear English. She knew exactly what the crowd was chanting, and then in what can only be described as an act of utter audaciousness decided to gaslight her viewers anyway by making up something on-the-spot that was completely inconsistent with reality - in other words, she did what is par for the course with most mainstream media broadcasters.

You claimed that she knew what was being chanted as it was "not difficult to make out" but lied and said it was LG, B in order to 'gaslight' the audience.

I asked if it was your contention that she lied about what was being chanted even though, in your own words, the chant was "not difficult to make out" and therefore, anyone listening would know she was lying.

So point out exactly what I said that wasn't 'parsed' correctly.

The "mostly peaceful protests" caption over a burning city also comes to mind.

Citation needed. Sounds much more like something FOX or another right wing 'news' channel would post.

The significance is this--the flawed and self-serving nature of some media is being highlighted to give undeserved credibility to even worse publications and broadcasts.

"Look, they spun that story a little too aggressively. Turn those idiots off and watch these outright lies instead.

We need those alternative news sources, otherwise we’d be stuck believing the narratives being spun by the NYTimes and others (although many here still do). Those narratives are often at odds with reality.

I’ve used it as a sort of indicator whenever someone says ‘but, but, FOX News!!’ as if they’re unique at all among cable news networks other than being on the other side of the aisle.

As usual, a cherry-picked picture while failing to present what was actually being said by the reporter:

"What you are seeing now, these images, came and come in stark contrast to what we saw over the course of the daytime hours in Kenosha and into the early evening, which were largely peaceful demonstrations in the face of law enforcement,” Jimenez said.

True. The daytime protests were overwhelmingly peaceful.

When the Department of Homeland Security released its Homeland Threat Assessment last week, it emphasized that self-proclaimed white supremacist groups are the most dangerous threat to U.S. security. But the report misleadingly added that there had been “over 100 days of violence and destruction in our cities,” referring to the anti-racism uprisings of this past summer.
In fact, the Black Lives Matter uprisings were remarkably nonviolent. When there was violence, very often police or counterprotesters were reportedly directing it at the protesters.
Here is what we have found based on the 7,305 events we’ve collected. The overall levels of violence and property destruction were low, and most of the violence that did take place was, in fact, directed against the BLM protesters.

The reporter continued:

“It wasn’t until nightfall that things began to get a little bit more contentious. Thing were thrown back and forth; police started using some of those crowd dispersal tactics like tear gas, even playing very loud sounds to push them out," he continued. "And then, what you’re seeing, the common theme that ties all of this together, is an expression of anger and frustration over what people feel like has become an all too familiar story playing out in places from across the country, not just here in Kenosha, Wis.”

True:

Only 3.7 percent of the protests involved property damage or vandalism. Some portion of these involved neither police nor protesters, but people engaging in vandalism or looting alongside the protests.

In short, our data suggest that 96.3 percent of events involved no property damage or police injuries, and in 97.7 percent of events, no injuries were reported among participants, bystanders or police.

These are great examples of 'audacious captions" meant to gaslight viewers:

You're actually comparing the NYTimes with Fox News when it comes to being 'at odds with reality'?

NYTimes:
Overall, we rate the New York Times Left-Center biased based on word and story selection that moderately favors the left but highly factual and considered one of the most reliable sources for news information due to proper sourcing and well-respected journalists/editors. The failed fact checks that occurred were on Op-Ed’s and not straight news reporting.

Fox:
We rate Fox News strongly Right-Biased due to editorial positions and story selection that favors the right. We also rate them Mixed factually and borderline Questionable based on poor sourcing and the spreading of conspiracy theories.

That's correct. Her audacious disregard for both her audience, and the obvious truth of what was being chanted became evident when she tried to spin reality in real time.

Yes, she knowingly lied about what was being chanted, and anyone listening without a hearing disability knew immediately that she was lying, hence the meme. The fact that you tried to rephrase my statement in an attempt to reconcile the absurdity of what she did is why I questioned your ability to parse English. Her failed attempt at gaslighting the NASCAR audience is an indictment of her as just another cog in the wheel of lying corporate media, not my accurate assessment of what happened.

She did what we both know she did. Why? Because lying and gaslighting is second nature to these people, and because that's how much contempt they hold us in.

It's a reference to another gaslighting meme:

We need alternative news sources. We do not need a single one that habitually publishes more fiction than the worst of the "mainstream media".

This thread was begun to show how the "libruls" are easily triggered snowflakes. Now the conservatives seem to be triggered by the fact the the "libruls" are shrugging their shoulders saying "hey, you guys are just doing you."

It's in the nature of the easily conned to think that they found a clever trick no one else has ever thought of.

No one is triggered. It's a meme precisely because it shows the ridiculous mindset of this reporter who felt that she not only had to but could get away with telling such a stupid and obvious lie. It's not even necessarily partisan. If the crowd were chanting "**** Donald Trump" (though unlikely at a NASCAR event) and a reporter made a similar awkward lie, it would still be just as dumb and meme-worthy.

At some point, no matter where we place on the "political spectrum", we as human beings should at least attempt to value truth and honesty, and devalue lies and dishonesty.

Apparently some people don't even want you to have "Let's Go Brandon" on your AR-15:

This tattletale or media hall monitor culture was on full display this week when NBC News’s Ken Dilanian took it upon himself to alert the U.S. Secret Service to the sale of AR-15 lower receivers emblazoned with a censored version of an insult to President Joe Biden.

Recognizing that many Second Amendment supporters oppose Biden due to his desire to confiscate law-abiding Americans’ firearms, Palmetto State Armory developed a special edition “LETSGO-15” AR-15 lower receiver. The front of the receiver features Biden’s likeness above a checkered flag, in reference to the race that gave rise to the phrase, along with the phrase itself. A censored version of the original chant adorns the fire selector settings.

I liked the result just fine: it just proved that Tippit's claim was utter bollocks as the cited quotations I provided proved.

That's correct. Her audacious disregard for both her audience, and the obvious truth of what was being chanted became evident when she tried to spin reality in real time.

LOL! So you're a mind reader and you just 'know' what the reporter heard and knew!

The fact that you tried to rephrase my statement in an attempt to reconcile the absurdity of what she did is why I questioned your ability to parse English.

How exactly did I 'rephrase' your question? I used your own damn words. Stop digging.

Her failed attempt at gaslighting the NASCAR audience is an indictment of her as just another cog in the wheel of lying corporate media, not my accurate assessment of what happened.

Your assessment of what happened is based on what you think she heard. Then you assign her a motive based on what you think.

She did what we both know she did. Why? Because lying and gaslighting is second nature to these people, and because that's how much contempt they hold us in.

No, you think you know what she heard and did. Why? Because you think that a sports reporter covering a Nascar race is out to gaslight you on a political issue. Can you get any more paranoid? You don't even know if Stavast is a Trump or Biden supporter, yet you jump right into 'OMG! It's a lying liberal trying to gaslight us poor Republicans!" victimization mode.
