Cont: Trump’s Coup - Part 2

Seems to run in the family

Eric Trump at the ‘Truth About Cancer’ conference last night didn’t utter a single word about cancer in his 28 minute speech. Instead, he rambled about how “the entire country rooted against” the women’s soccer team in Olympics because “they didn’t love our Pledge of Allegiance.”

The truth about cancer is Eric funneled money from a kids cancer charity in to the Trump coffers.

Remember John Eastman? He was a Trump lawyer who wrote a memo giving a strategy repubicans could use to overturn the election. (Basically, Vice President Racist Bannon would claim that the results from certain states are 'disputed' so would be counted.)

He is now trying to distance himself from the memo...

From: Raw Story
(Eastman) now claims the infamous two-page memo does not accurately reflect his own views or provide legal advice to Trump or former vice president Mike Pence... he claims he told Trump that he did not believe the plan..."Anybody who thinks that that's a viable strategy is crazy,"....The attorney also disagrees with his own argument that the vice president is the only person with the authority to count electoral votes...he now insists those arguments were never meant to be taken literally.

Doesn't matter. A lawyer is violating the ethics code if he gives advice on doing things he knows are illegal..
In a way, this makes it worse for him, as it establishes awareness of the unconstitutionality.

Yes because everyone here is so concerned with ethics codes…

Ah....the old "I was just kidding" defense strategy.

I almost feel sorry for Eric and Donnie Jr. Can you imagine what it was like growing up with Donald Trump for a father where the only attention you received was likely to be ridiculed, insulted and yelled at if you didn't measure up to his expectations? You don't have to be a psychologist to see that they crave his approval and attention and will do anything to get it but fear him at the same time. They remind me of beaten dogs who will still crawl to their abuser in search of love.

Like any good lawyer he was just giving out figurative legal advice

I also posted this in the Tucker Carlson-Caligula thread but it also belongs here:

Someone please send in a team to extract Tucker Carlson from Trump's ass:

The host of Fox News' Tucker Carlson Tonight released the trailer for his Jan. 6 documentary Patriot Purge on Wednesday night, and it's as terrifying as you'd expect.

The first in a three-part series produced by Tucker Carlson Originals, the ominous trailer baselessly suggests the riot was a "false flag" plot "heralding the state persecution of conservatives," writes Insider.

The Fox icon has previously suggested Jan. 6 was a possible FBI set-up, through critics have "dismissed this idea as a conspiracy theory," writes Newsweek. On Wednesday, Carlson said he believes the documentary "answers a lot of the remaining questions from that day." The trailer says the project will tell "the true story behind the War on Terror 2.0 and the plot against the people," writes Vice News.

Of course, the Twitter-shared preview didn't come without some criticism. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), a member of the House select committee investigating the Capitol riot, slammed Fox News for giving Carlson "a platform to spread the same type of lies that provoked violence on Jan. 6."

The disgusting trailer:

My optimism for the US is being eroded, and a grim fatalism is taking hold. My observation of a country sleepwalking into authoritarianism is daily confirmed. Watching AG Garland take that baseless haranguing by Cruze, Hawley and Blackburn with his mute, deer-in-the-headlights befuddlement, combined with his apparent inaction regarding the bigger fish in the insurrection, induces a sickening feeling that Lady Justice is wearing a selective blindfold. Or pusilanimity has moved into her halls.

The boundaries of free speech, exemplified by the Tucker-Whoppers 'documentary' soon to further poison millions, are being stretched to encompass a nation-destroying cavalcade of incendiary lies. It has now got to the point where people have been radicalized to the level of mooting civil war, and even champing at the bit to take up arms.

A grim reckoning is shaping up to take its grievous toll. And the nation sleeps.

Big new buzzword among the Trumpers is "Vote stealing algorithm . Most of them don't know what an algorithm is; most of them probably flunked first year algebra in High School.

Better question would be if they know what a flow chart is.

Bbbbbbut both sides.

I mean it's the responsibility of a fair and balanced media to cover both sides of a story even if one of those sides is complete and utter fantasy.

My one hope for America is that fact that so many issues are so easy to fix if there was just the political will.
Eventually we will get a generation of Republicans who will want to win elections by making life better for Americans instead of by making life worse for non-Americans.

No we won't. What alternate universe are you living in?
