Why is that? You don’t think the guys passing around Trump body slamming CNN memes would hop onto Truth and try and snag @realdonaldtrump or @jackdorsey and do generally trolly stuff? That’s what they do

We're now at "Okay we're writing a strongly worded letter about how you ignored our last strongly worded letter" with Bannon.

I can't wait to see how he ignores the law and nothing happens next.

Trump's Social Media Platform Could Already Face Legal Issues, After Allegedly Ripping Off Code

https://gizmodo.com/trump-may-already-face-legal-issues-for-new-social-medi-1847909587

As noted up thread, the site is build on Mastodon.

Mastodon leases its software under something called an AGPLv3 license, which basically stipulates that users can use its code so long as they acknowledge where it came from and make the copied or modified code available for public inspection. However, in its own terms of service, Truth Social claims that “all source code” from its software is proprietary, essentially failing to mention that it lifted it from somewhere else.

From Trump today:

"I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable," Trump said in a release.

And James Corden said, this just shows that Trump is more offensive than the Taliban.

And, just for the face-palming irony in it- Trump's "Truth" platform for unhindered free speech has a rule prohibiting users from criticizing it (Rolling Stone via MSN):
Trump has long railed against Big Tech censorship, particularly of himself as he pushed misinformation, hate speech, and violent rhetoric before Twitter banned him in January. “I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up against the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump wrote. “We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced.”

The thing about all of this, though, is that when it comes to everyone’s favorite American President, truth is subjective, and “free speech” comes with more than a few caveats. So, too, is the case for Truth Social, the terms of service for which include a clause stating that users may not “disparage, tarnish, or otherwise harm, in our opinion, us and/or the Site.”

In other words, users can’t make fun of or criticize Truth Social, and it’s up to Truth Social to determine what constitutes said “disparagement.”

No the democrats are a sane conservative party we need a real liberal party.

I predict one of two things will happen in the next couple of elections. The GOP will successfully destroy democracy and be in power forever or the Republican Party will dissolve and then another party will be born from the right-wing of the Democratic party which will be much like the Republican party of the 80's.

Key Investor Bails After Learning He's In New Trump Company: 'Not A Close Call'

Donald Trump’s proposed social media company came as news to some of its investors ― and at least one pulled out when he learned his money was now tied to the former president.

“Many investors are grappling with hard questions about how to incorporate their values into their work,” hedge fund manager Boaz Weinstein told The New York Times in a statement. “For us, this was not a close call.”

The newspaper said Weinstein’s Saba Capital had been a major investor in Digital World, a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, formed for the purpose of acquiring another company.

As is common in SPAC arrangements, investors put their cash in before the acquisition target was chosen. When Weinstein learned it would be with Trump’s firm, he bailed.

But he'll miss out on being associated with the business genius that bankrupted multiple casinos!

Trump has been unable to get US Banks and Capital Venture compnaies to finance his projects since the mid 90's; they generlaly know a bad investment when they see one.'
When you lose a large amount of money running a Casino, that does not help your reputation with savvy investors.

iIt's called Due Process Of Law.
Yeah, a certain amount of due process is required.

I think people are just pessimistic that congress and/or the DOJ won't follow through.... that either congress will end up dropping things, or the DoJ will think its not worth their time or is too "political".

Plus, there is "due process" and their is "abuse of the system".... some people think one "warning" is enough, and multiple follow-ups just play into republican plans to delay and subvert everything.

Due process requires good-faith service of process.

Rejection of a summons sits right alongside false and misleading statements in that whatever perceived advantage may motivate them, they are an attack on the legitimacy of the idea the public may inquire at all about matters of interest to it.

ETA: If Mr. Bannon thinks the inquiry not of legitimate public interest, he can make a civil petition for the subpoena be enjoined. He may also use whatever lawful means to influence public opinion about not electing anyone to Congress who would use congressional subpoenas in such a way.

There are ways to respond lawfully yet also resist, but outright ignoring/defying is not part of "process."
