Texas bans abortion.

So what? The same is true of my semen. It could eventually become a pretty baby. But just like a fetus or a cancerous tumor are all human and NOT a baby.

Let's stop talking about what it could be and limit discussion to what it is.

I posted that as response to someone comparing a fetus to a cancerous tumor. I posted it to show cancerous tumor =/= fetus.

I generally am opposed to Abortion. Don't like it.

I also strongly oppose any and all means to outlaw it. It is a decision to be made solely between a woman and her doctor. That's it. Full stop.

what about the fetus? what about it's rights and life?

Women don't suddenly lose rights upon becoming pregnant. There are better ways to reduce abortion numbers than outlawing it.

I agree, they don't lose rights upon becoming pregnant. But maybe at some point after conception and before birth, the fetus gains rights.

And I despise people who dehumanize women and think they have a say on a womans medical decisions.

If the medical decision only affected the woman, I would agree it would be between her and her doctor or doctors. But it also affects the fetus.

I don't think saying so dehumanizes women.

At which point during a pregnancy should a woman, a full sentient, sapient member of the human race, lose rights?

See above.

I don't think lose rights at any time. But I do think at some point the fetus gains rights.

If you remove a persons right to bodily autonomy, and force her to give birth against her will, then yes, she loses rights.

it is matter of having to decide between her rights and the fetus'.

her right to bodily autonomy, the fetus' right to live. Something has to give.

Tumors have human cells. More than a six-week-old embryo. If you cut them, do they not bleed?

I thought we weren't just talking about a six week old embryo here.

If you want to get back to the Texas law, I think it is bad. Allowing people to sue anyone involved in any way with an abortion is not the solution.

When does a woman lose her rights to bodily autonomy? Why does a potential human being have more value than an actual human being?

A fetus has no "right to live," or any other rights for that matter. This is well established both by law and nature.

third time, she doesn't it is matter of having to choose between two rights: the woman's right bodily autonomy and the fetus' right to live.

Why does a potential human being have more value than an actual human being?

it is not a matter of the "potential human" having more value than an actual human. We are not talking about choosing between life of the mother and the life the fetus. We are talking about choosing between the right to bodily autonomy and the right of the fetus to live.
