In Kerala, the recently routed BJP has found a new route to spread its anit-Muslim venom through the Syrian Catholic community. The Bishop of the Syro-Malabar Church in a district in Kerala warning parishioners about "Love Jihad" (Muslim men supposedly seducing and eloping with Hindu and Christian women to convert them to Islam) and the latest "Narcotics Jihad" (where Muslim owners of ice-cream and fruit juice stall supposedly force drugs on "poor unsuspecting youth." The odd thing is that illegal weed in Kerala is largely grown in the rubber and spice estates predominantly owned by members of the Syrian-Christian community.)
Kerala Catholic Church woos BJP
This has been quickly picked up by both the currently unrepresented BJP party in Kerala and also many dissident Christian politicians who left the Congress party in the wake of the scandal involving rapes by prominent clergy members (Yeah...the dissidents were supporting the accused).
Of course there has been quite a backlash from other churches and communities and even the Archbishop in Kerala has warned the offending Bishop not to indulge in fear mongering.
