Texas bans abortion.

We definitely oughta kill 'em…

I think that’s actually a step in the right direction, specifically replacing the word “murder” with “kill”.

Does anyone here object to that word? The “thing” in that photo is assumed to be alive, and abortion renders it dead. That’s killing, right?

As an aside, while I’m - again - against the Texas law and support a woman’s right to an abortion - I’m still troubled by the mechanics involved. Photos like the above are often not “in vivo” and are not of living fetuses or embryos. But I’d have trouble watching what happens if and when a comparable, living “thing” is aborted.

But clearly the mother and doctor involved are not concerned with my squeamishness. And I’m not assuming they may not have seriously reflected upon the seriousness and consequences of their decision. Just reflecting on how it makes me feel. For what it’s worth.

Incorrect. My position is not based on law alone; it is based on certain realities. You cannot achieve the absolute ideal of no abortions, imo. Nor should that be the goal.

However, at least one person has recently tried using "law" as the absolute definition of what is acceptable. I do not ascribe to that notion.

You won't even say what your position is.

You talk about accountability and then refuse to define and defend what you meant.

Does it make any difference if the photo was taken inside the womb or not? Why?

The photo is inside the womb. I could show you a picture of a miscarried embryo farther along than 8 weeks being held in its mother's hand but chose not to as I didn't feel like listening to the cries of feigned horror from some people.

You don't murder cancer. You might say you kill it, but it's more common to hear of tumors simply being removed.

Oh we're at the "not even trying to hide that I'm a troll" portion of the evening already? That came around fast.

Perhaps a parasite that could have been a Mensa member. Amirite?

Or Hitler or Pol Pot or Idi Amin or Gary Ridgeway or Ed Gein or Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahmer or Jim Jones or God forbid Donald Trump.

Still dodging the accountability question I see.

If you think that was a logical rebuttal, it explains a lot about your 'rebuttals'.:solved1

I'm pretty sure there must be some folks around here who have children that are Mensa members. I'd have to mine some posts to be sure.

Those people can probably relate to my point.

My parents would have had a child who was a Mensa member if I hadn't already met several Mensa members previously and found them to be preening vapid idiots.

That would be me...my daughter qualifies but chose not to join. And no, I don't relate to your point at all because it's no point at all; it's a desperate non-rebuttal.

I'm not sure being a Mensa member means all that much. There some pretty awful people that are members of Mensa.

Why not just say Nobel laureate? At least we know those individuals made a contribution to humanity.

****?
And again another post without saying what you meant by "personal accountability."

This mama didn't raise no idiot. Of course, she does qualify for Mensa. She got that from her mama, too.

Yeah, as I said, some of these "parasites" could end up as Mensa members. It's just one possible outcome, of course. Characterizing the unborn as "parasites" is quite dehumanizing, which is obviously the intent.

Let's cut to the chase. Yes, there are cases of incest and rape. But that is not the largest demographic for abortion. If you decide to have sex, you have made a choice. Even if using birth control, you know that there is a chance that you may become pregnant.

I don't believe in virgin births, do you? Of course not. I do believe though, that personal accountability is important...and that seems to be a lost concept with some people (not saying you).

Now, all of that being said, I don't support this TX law. Because, I understand the world isn't perfect. And quite simply, 6 weeks is too early for many women to even know they are pregnant.

Why do you believe abortion is a way to escape personal responsibility or accountability? Also, why is sex something to be accountable for doing? Do you believe sex is immoral?
