From http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/663890.html :

A statement from the family of Kate Burton, one of the three British observers kidnapped by Palestinian gunmen:

"Kate Burton plans to stay in the region and continue working with the Palestinian people. The incident was just one in the context of a severely increasing state of insecurity in the Gaza Strip, and Kate remains committed and passionate about working alongside the Palestinians to improve their external image and alleviate the difficult conditions being suffered by the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip"

And from the chief idiot, Ms. Kate Burton herself:

Burton told the BBC after her release that she could not say a bad word about her captors, who always asked whether they needed anything, and added that she hoped to continue her human rights work in the Gaza Strip.

Translation:

"That's OK, kidnap me / kidnap our daughter! I realize you're only doing it because you are opressed by the evil jews! I won't even say anything bad about you--that's so unfair to your image!"

I read the article, but I can't see any antisemitic statements by Kate Burton anywhere. At best she seems to be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. Are you sure you linked the right article?

Stockholm Syndrome?...after just a few days in captivity?

Kate Burton is a human rights activist who was kidnapped against her will with her family at gunpoint in Gaza and used as a bartering tool - complete with video statements.

In perfect useful idiot form she has absolutely nothing to say about the utter abuse of her human rights by the Palestinian terrorists who kidnapped her and her family except:

Kate Burton "could not say a bad word about her captors, who always asked whether they needed anything"
Meanwhile she didn't stay in Gaza with her o'so benevolent kidnappers she and her family fled to:

Now that is a useful idiot if I have ever seen one.

I said at best she seems to be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. At worst she's a useful idiot. However, I see no antisemitic statements or sentiments in her reactions to the press.

Oh, I dunno. She ain't bad, but I don't know that she's in the same league as Susanne Osthoff. That tidbit is just a small sample of her useful idiocy -- I recommend a google news search for amusement purposes.
In Osthoff's case, I would definitely say she suffers from a syndrome or some form of trauma.

Anyone who does not condemn the Palestinians as inhuman monsters and recognize the terrible injustices perpetuated upon the Israeli people is necessarily antisemitic. At least, in zenith's world.

I've been reading Zenith's posts most carefully since he started here at JREF, and I've never seen him write anything to indicate that. Could you point out what I've missed, please?

That's interesting, because I've been doing the same, and I've never seen anything but that.

One A Day

I was just about to start a thread on this subject! Skeptic already had the same idea, so let's go... what caught my attention about this incident was the following photo of Ms Burton directly after her release:

"Kate remains committed and passionate about working alongside the Palestinians to improve their external image and alleviate the difficult conditions being suffered by the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip"

I would urge the Israelis to deport her, on the next flight out.
She can continue to do her fabulous and utterly amazing work from London, where she can work alongside the Palestinians in the UK to improve their "external image." And she might even want to open a little fashion boutique and offer her trendy KAFFIYA to all those who wish to show solidarity with her terroristabductors!

Can I rightfully call the people who abducted her "terrorists" ? Maybe they are just a bunch of guys who wanted to gain some attention to legitimate greivances and maybe got a little zealous in their publicity methods?

Let's see the videotape -- you decide:
  • A previously unknown group calling itself the Mujahedeen Brigades Jerusalem Branch claimed responsibility for the kidnappings and threatened to abduct more foreigners if Israel doesn't end its "no-go" zone in the northern Gaza Strip.

The no-go zone? Hmmmmmm. Isn't that the area which is totally devoid of Palestinian villages, devoid of Palestinian population (and thus, devoid of human habitation, and thus, impossible for Israel to be violating human rights in the zone, since there aren't any humans there!) The only reason, and I mean THE ONLY reason, for Israel to even be involved in warning people to remain out of there, is because terrorists have gone into there with the unique purpose of launching deadly explosive missiles at Israel.

I did not hear a single word, not a peep, from Kaffiya Kate, addressing the point of her abduction -- namely, if the terrorists should stop their campaign of firing rockets at Israel, then the IDF would have no purpose in the no-go zone and the whole thing would be moot!

I repeat -- deport her and let her complain about whatever she desires from the comfort of her home in the UK.
Israel has enough to deal with without allowing this kind of tomfoolery.

Although I usually side with you, Melendwyr, I have to agree with Mycroft - Zenith usually has harsh words for terrorists (no matter what flavor) - if you'll look back at the OP, I think you'll realize it's Skeptic who thinks everyone hates Jews.

Uh... You mean in Skeptic's world, right? The original post to which I was replying was by Skeptic, not Zenith.

There's a whole cadre of Usual Suspects who (judging by their posting styles) share that belief.

Him too. I tend to get the rabid right-wingers confused. I sometimes suspect they're sock puppets - but which are the socks and which are the actual posters?

Umm, Skeptic, any comment? (I tend to concur with Perforatu) And while you're at it, would you please apologize to Zep, I am getting tired of looking at his current signature...

Why did the picture catch your attention? I was under the impression that the Kaffiya is a fairly common garb in Palestine.

wow! An immediate and total deterioration of the thread due to personal attacks... I would hope the moderator deletes melendwyr, suspends his account for the remainder of this year, and lets us proceed without being subjected to hijackings of this type.

Okay, so it seems you're prone to making statements without foundation, and then turning to ad-hominem attacks when asked to back them up.

Good to know.
