Why on earth would it be?
Right. If you approach something scientifically, there are a rigorous set of standards. Dynamite. Philosophy does, too.
Are you suggesting such a philosophy is not valid?
You requested methods other than science by which knowledge can be gained. I gave examples. Your response was dismissal without explanation or justification. Would you care to provide more details on the reason for your immediate rejection? What a strange question.
Back up: what "such" methods?
Do you think science was developed philosophically, from a group of mustache-twirlers in a smoked-up room? Or did perhaps it develop from experience without any deep thinking about universal implications?
What a strange question. Why do you keep asking these questions that have nothing to do with anything I've said?
And this has nothing to do with our discussion.
I'm dying to see examples.
It's the same point you're making over and over in your post but I don't see where you're going with this that has anything to do with the quote you provided from me.
Such as?
I think you have me confused with someone else. Nothing in your post has anything to do with the post you were replying to. I think you got mixed up with your own definition of "human knowledge".
No, no. Philosophy MAY. Not does, MAY. And there are no standards to ensure that anyone doing "philosophy" (which philosophy proponents here refuse to define) is rigorous or even grounded in any reality.
Why do people ask those weird ass questions that don't seem to come from anywhere?

Any wisdom I share from the bible which is still in common use today and supported by Scientific understanding will be immediately dismissed (hand-waived away) in the similar manner as the other examples I gave, therefore I will not waste our time providing such information. For somebody to take the extreme position that every.single.word in the bible is false has a very large speck in their eye, so to speak
Are you able to provide any resource from a respected university in the United States which claims there is NO link whatsoever between science and philosophy?
Are you aware of any prominent scientist in contemporary society that are dismissive of philosophy?
Ok, may. We can go over premises and conclusions, and logical validity and soundness and stuff if you want to insist there are no standards, or we can cut to the chase and ask why you still insist they are largely competing disciplines. They are not.
You say that science has at least some knowledge and methodology.
Your implication seems to be that Phil employs none
Philosophers, the same people making up answers that don't make any sense for a question only they are asking and acting like this is worth anyone's time.
Have to admit my bit of prediction was wrong - I thought it would be LarryS who first of all decided to be dishonest in the manner you have been.Maybe it will be called "food saltyizer" and have Sulfate, Calcium and Magnesium in it as well. …snip….
I fully expect the theories underpinning electromagnetism to change by then and this may even have consequences for how we understand electrons. This shouldn't change our understanding of covalent bonding because this is observed behavior that any new or modified theory needs to account for.
I don't know if the Periodic Table will be the go-to organizing tool for matter in 500 years, it could an antique/artifact buried in some museum of science someplace.
Describe the philosophy that brought you to that view. It's take you 25 pages to realize that everyone involved has already rejected the premise in the thread title?

This is at odds with your vehement objections to anyone who says things like "science provides useful models not truth". It's also at odds with you extreme response to the video below by quantum physicist Sabine Hossenfelder about how we interpret the world around us.
If you want to understand science you need to understand things like what can be used as evidence, how string that evidence is, what science is doing that makes it effective, whether something is actually science in the first place, whether an argument I logically sound, when there is enough evidence to just move on an ignore the deniers, etc
These all flow out of philosophy. many scientists spick up enough to get by, but if you look at the history of how prominent scientists fail dramatically when they try to work outside their own fields and it becomes obvious many lack these essential skills. They get by in their own fields but when called on to evaluate science outside that filed they can't do it properly.

You say that could be the case ... you are saying you know that to be a possible outcome … OK, so so how do you know that to be a fact? How did you show that to be possible?
And what would be shown to be wrong with organising the elements in a tabular form of ascending atomic number?
. . . the Periodic Table becoming a 'relic' . . . I'm not saying it's a fact, but it's possible. Science has under-gone paradigm shifts in the past - developed totally new ways of looking at things. I have no reason to think any POV is sacred or will persist. Should that happen, that doesn't make the Periodic Table wrong, just not the manner/way things are viewed or classified or understood.
