Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 27

Not open for further replies.
What could have happened: (All supposed to happen before Biden's inauguration.)

From: Axios
John McEntee...handed retired Army Col. Douglas Macgregor a piece of paper with a few notes scribbled on it. He explained: "This is what the president wants you to do." 1. Get us out of Afghanistan. 2. Get us out of Iraq and Syria. 3. Complete the withdrawal from Germany. 4. Get us out of Africa. It was Nov. 9, 2020...national security leaders soon realized they were dealing with an off-the-books operation by the commander in chief himself.

Of course this would have been done with no real consultation (either with American allies, or with congress), and given the rushed nature, very little planning.

They didn't think so.

Maybe cute for a few adults chatting at a cocktail party, but twelve years of schoolyards is an entirely different story.

School bullies don't grok "cute". They use it as a weapon.

As a former teacher, I can verify that. Kids can be very cruel. Boys tend to be physical, but girls? They tend to use words to as weapon.

My name isn't even cute, but my last name is the same as what used to be the largest department store chain in the US at the time. That produced quite a bit of mockery.

Well, they probably didn't meet too many kids named Kmart.

I guess Asia was next.
Trump is an isolationist. Who would have guessed?

I wouldn't say he's an isolationist so much as I would say he's an idiot. (Remember, he did initially approve of military action in Libya and Iraq.) He's just not smart enough to recognize that sometimes stationing troops overseas can be valuable to American interests.

The more notable part is that he was doing it without really consulting people. (Not even those pro-Trump republicans in congress.)

Why would he need to do that? Remember that he knows more than the generals. Hell, he knows more than anyone about everything cuz he's a stable genius.

And the Republicans all have to agree that that stuff is perfectly normal and not a sign of a mental condition.

I am fascinated by people whose primary values are respect for authority and loyalty to authority. I always used to wonder how many of them would acknowledge that a particular authority is incompetent and dangerous either from innate inability to lead or from a mental disorder.

Apparently not that many. Yes,enough to sway an election, but not enough to stand by Cheney.

Talking about names... Look at who signed the pro-Trump Flag Officers 4 America letter:

https://taskandpurpose.com/news/military-retired-generals-admiral-jack-meehoff/

Rear Admiral "Jack Meehoff"

...

carefully sets a nice table for two. And then flips it.

Hm? Oh, sorry, I was just annoyed. Had to flip a table, you know how it is. I'm better now. Anyway, yeah, Dolt 45's entire presidency was just lunacy, and it looks like he's going to go deeper into that. I sincerely hope he continues to backstab and humiliate every republican he can, while telling his worshippers all about how they don't need to vote because things are "rigged", or his chosen few will win no matter what, or whatever.

Hey, remember when he just banned trans people from the military, because he thought it was a "tremendous cost", when it was really like 0.4% of the budget maximum?

On a quick recheck, the numbers were $8 million out of a $50 billion budget, so 0.016%?

Bingo! You are the winner.

Yep! Ben Dover.

How would you like being a guy going through school with that name? This kid was tortured mercilessly.

FWIW, I thought that Ben Dover was the obvious answer to your question. Pretty sure that name's a "classic."

That one's been around for decades just like Phil McCracken.

And even lower when you consider the entire military budget. But yeah, not "tremendous" at all, and as I recall it cost more to ban trans people than to just not care.
