Oh. Can't believe I have to explain this to you but whatever.
As an atheist, I will still use the expressions like "dear god", "jesus christ", "holy mother of jehosaphat" and such. This does not mean that I place any credence in such imaginary figures. It is merely a consequence of a cultural inheritance.
That you are unable to figure that out is actually amusing.
See I was raised catholic. We all knew that such things were meaningless since none of the named supposed deities actually existed.
Course, later on, in my late teens/twenties, I went seeking meaning. I discoverd that there is none to be found in christianity, or any other of the religions that are a pox upon our species.
So I moved on to homeopathy and whatnot seeking to find meaning there. A total load. And I pretty much went the full nine yards. At this point, I could accurately cast your astrology chart, read your astrology chat, read your tarot cards, assess your auroras, balance your chakras, divine your "problems" with pendulums, or dowsing sticks. provide reiki, diagnose Bach flower remedies for whatever ails you. Been there, done that. And that is only a partial list.
So I know from experience that it is utter bollocks.
I went through the entire process of hoping against hope that there was some basis for the baloney.
There never was.
As a result of all of that, it was my decision that I would believe anything when actual evidence was presented. And you fail to do so.
Same as all the other crank claimants. None of the crank claimants can present any evidence.
So have you evidence?
Or have you none?
Really? You actually seriously considered any of that? Hell, I figured out religion was a human construct invented to meet our psychological and emotional needs when I was 15. So is everything else you mentioned.
Everyone was young and foolish once. Having departed religion as a mere callow youth, I gave every other "spiritual" shenanigans their due consideration. Without fail, I sought evidence. Without fail, none was offered or available. I gave the lot of them a fair shake though.
To put a shape on that, with homeopathy, it was quick. Some brief math tossed that out for the garbage it is. Astrology was far more valuable. I learned actual astronomy there. The other claims about how the stars affect any individual are bollocks. Still, the mechanics of the motion of celestial objects had value. Dowsing taught me how the ideomotor effect actually works. And so on and so forth.
Ironically, I learned a lot of real things from nutty notions that were not real things. I doubt that was the intention of the proponents of such nutty notions. My working philosophy at the time was one better learn what it actually claims before one can reasonably dismiss it out of hand. So I did.
Fair enough.
I wasn't raised in a religion. Neither of my parents were churchgoers, but neither was actively against religion. I'd say they were neutral when it came to religion so I didn't have that hurdle to overcome as you did being raised Catholic.
Church of England, the non-religious church.
But you weren't raised in a religion Andy your parents weren't churchgoers.
That looks like C of E to me.

During a rally at the Covelli Centre [Youngstown Ohio] in July 2017, the president told those attendance to not sell their houses because the area’s factories would soon be reopening.
[Two years later] President Donald Trump again blamed organized labor for the closing of the General Motors Lordstown Complex during an appearance in Lima Wednesday. “They could have kept General Motors. They could have kept it in that gorgeous plant in Lordstown,” the president said. He blamed high union dues – which are paid by workers, not the company – for the plant closing. “Lower your dues,” he said. Youngstown Business Journal
I read a post by a former trump supporter -- an Ohio woman -- on another message board. She is an auto worker and she believed trump's 2016 campaign rhetoric that he was going to bring the factory jobs back. She thought with trump Americans would finally have a president who really understood working people and would do all in his power to help them. Of course once trump was elected she soon realized trump was not who he claimed to be. In her region none of the closed down factories ever reopened. The final straw was when General Motors closed the Lordstown Ohio plant in 2019 and trump publicly and repeatedly castigated local union officials over it. She knows one of the local officials and he was devastated by it. The union official says the worst part was knowing his kids were bullied in school. Bullied by kids whose fathers or mothers are laid off auto workers and pick up on trump's accusations again union officials. Below are quotes from a Youngstown business publication, published in March 2019.
Even General Motors concedes the union had little to do with the closure of Lordstown. GM won't say this, but an important factor was actually trump and his policies. The trump administration approved loosening of restrictions on auto emissions and that hurt sales of the Chevrolet Cruze which was manufactured at the Lordstown plant. There were also continuing design/quality issues with Cruze and sales declined to the point the Lordstown plant started hemorrhaging cash.
The woman whose post I read wrote, she had first really become aware of donald trump from watching episodes of The Apprentice. She wrote, "Lord, I loved that show." But once trump was in office she began to realize the man she'd watched on The Apprentice and the man in the White House were not the same person.
Ironically, she wrote her sister is furious with her for turning against trump.
Are you seriously inferring that the 87 people mentioned were the only people to contract COVID-19? The number of people in the U.S. so far infected isn't 0.01%, as you claim, it's more like 21%.So at least 99.99% have not gotten it.
And many of us have. Again, you seem to be so self-centered that you even expect strangers to evaluate this situation based on how you claim it is impacting you personally.I don't have a soul in my life who has had it.
Or were simply old, like you. Don't forget that. I still stand by my "whistling in the dark" assessment of your COVID-19 denial. You have to convince yourself that those who became seriously ill or died were somehow inferior to you, so you'll be immune to such risks. And all those who "got it" probably had weak immune systems and other chronic health issues.
So at least 99.99% have not gotten it. I don't have a soul in my life who has had it. And all those who "got it" probably had weak immune systems and other chronic health issues.
Sure they do, they just call themselves Episcopaleans but it will always be Anglican to me. Their logo even includes St George's Cross.Oh, that was a joke. That wasn't clear.
Nope. Americans don't usually attend C of E!And don't call me "Andy"!
So at least 99.99% have not gotten it. I don't have a soul in my life who has had it. And all those who "got it" probably had weak immune systems and other chronic health issues.
Yes, because nothing will appeal to moderates more than an incompetent fascist-loving bigot like Trump having a running mate who is an unapologetic right-wing boot-licker like DeSantis. There's a winning ticket right there.
So at least 99.99% have not gotten it.
Part of the reasonTrump/Pence were successful in 2016 was because Trump was seen (at the time) to be more moderate than Clinton. (Remember, he was incredibly vague in many of his promises, and made many contradictory statements, which allowed people to make assumptions that made him look better than he was.) And his "moderation" was balanced by Pence's "right-wing" evangelicalism. So, Trump/Pence with a younger version of Pence? Ya, that will never work.Yes, because nothing will appeal to moderates more than an incompetent fascist-loving bigot like Trump having a running mate who is an unapologetic right-wing boot-licker like DeSantis. There's a winning ticket right there.
It should tell her to get it too. Because everything Trump does is golden and right.Trump himself got COVID.
That should tell you something.
