The Biden Presidency

.....
I'm not all that interested in Biden's speech tonight either. As I said before as a speaker I find Biden boring to listen to. I'll wait for the reviews.

We just got rid of a President who thought his job was to entertain. Boring -- consistent, reliable, responsible, thoughtful -- is good.

I don't think it is fair to derail this thread into a discussion of whether Corona is really a beer.

I do know many Mexicans have a low opinion of Corona, and laugh at the stupid gringos for drinking it when there are much better Mexican made beers around.

yeah, I had enough of "The President As Entertainer" to last, like, forever.

Biden from a PR perspective is stealing from FDR's book. Which is about opposite from Trump. He's limiting his public appearances and trying to make the ones he does as eventful and with substance. This as opposed to trying to fill up every news cycle with it being about him.

I'm sure.

Particularly after it was bought by Anheuser Busch.

Not complaining about Biden except to say I probably won't listen to the speech. Maybe I'll have it on with the sound down to see if the Republicans sit stone-faced throughout. Alito's not going to be there so we don't have to listen to "you lie". I wonder what he think's of Dump's >30,000 lies?

Earlier I heard the GOP is going to reply with the claim that Biden came in after the tide had turned. ******* liars!

That's it Democrats. Pick a battle LITERALLY NOBODY IS ASKING FOR right now, that's the best thing you can do.

Yeah there's a lot people looking at the landscape right now with "Menthol Cigarettes" at the top of their "To do list."

That's just proves Mexico has stupid beer snobs the same as America does.

Since when is banning a product the same as criminalizing it?

If you ban something but don't criminalize it what's the point? Or indeed what are you even doing?

In what way can the government acting officially go "Don't do that, but if you do nothing will happen?"

That's not how it works. That's never how it works. The government doesn't give "polite successions" and if it does it shouldn't.

I can't imagine it not working. Do you really believe a black market for menthol cigarettes will develop? We've done a fairly good job at lessening the number of people who smoke. If this is their reason for doing this, great.

Why is it so bloody goddamn important to Democrats that pot is legal but tobacco isn't?

No one's talking about banning tobacco. But tobacco has long been marketed to teenagers with the intent of hooking them for life, and menthol flavoring is part of that. You want to smoke tobacco, enjoy it. But it should taste like tobacco, not mouthwash.

Many government regulations, even tax laws, are enforced with civil penalties, not criminal charges. It would be easy to say "If you sell menthol cigarettes, you will be fined an amount equal to x times your sales." Not a crime, but still an incentive to comply.

Oh good grief. You're overthinking this. You stop manufacturing it, you stop selling it in stores.

BTW, did you even read what the goal of this move is? I'll wait until you catch up.
