The Biden Presidency

He certainly appeared to be, in 1988.
Biden certainly suffers from Foot in Mouth, and wouldn't have been my choice for President. Though anyone, even a different Republican would have been better than the one who fomented insurrection.

In Terms of his lies, have anything more recent? Say the past decade?

Has he spoken at a press conference recently to talk about how awesome he is, and how much more he knows of everything over everyone else?

Has he claimed to be the great Chosen One?

Did he lie during the recent press conference?

Or are you just looking for gotchas to show how much worse democrats are over Republicans?
How ‘bout Biden being a thin-skinned narcissist? I’m on the edge of my seat, dyin’ to know!

Cheat Sheet Told Joe Biden Which Reporters to Pick During Press Conference

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 25: U.S. President Joe Biden talks to reporters during the first news conference of his presidency in the East Room of the White House on March 25, 2021 in Washington, DC. On the 64th day of his administration, Biden, 78, faced questions about the coronavirus pandemic, …Chip Somodevilla/Getty

Photos from President Joe Biden’s press conference on Thursday revealed he had a large sheet of paper showing him which reporters to call on.

The prompt had visible headshot photos of reporters in the room, including large handwritten numbers that were circled by the photo of each reporter he called on.

The images of the numbered journalists included Justin Sink of Bloomberg, Zeke Miller from the Associated Press, and Ken Thomas of the Wall Street Journal, all reporters Biden called on during the press conference.

Some of the boxes in the cheat sheet did not include a picture and were crossed out.

The photos were taken by pool photographer Oliver Contreras who was in the East Room of the White House during the press conference.
Despite having a cheat sheet, Biden paused significantly before every question as he looked down at his notes before calling on a reporter. He also struggled with some of the names of the reporters.
Biden called Washington Post reporter Seung Min Kim “Miss Kim” and ABC News reporter Cecilia Vega “Cecilia.”The president’s press conference lasted 62 minutes and he called on ten reporters for ques

I have an innate talent for noticing hypocrisy. And a big failure of mine is that I cannot resist pointing it out. You know, defender of a major liar is compelled to attack another person for doing the same thing (to a much lesser degree).

So how about my "considerable illusions" re Biden? Going to follow up with examples, or just carry on in the Trump-like manner of pretending you never said it. Which somehow makes it "not a lie"?

Again the Trump-Trolls hypocrisy is very intentional, an act of baiting.

When someone who's not wearing pants decides to tell you that your fly is down, he knows damn well the response is going to be "But your not even wearing pants at all!"

The hypocrisy has turned into a taunt at this point. It's a flex. It's "Yeah I'm being such a massive hypocrite that is beyond comical at this point, whatcha gonna do about it libtard?"

When you have to go back over 3 decades to find an example, you are demonstrating the opposite of your claim that he does. You are demonstrating that he did, once, a long long time ago.

As a whataboutism to deflect from Trump criticism, this was weak even considering the source.

Extrapolation is key. Because everyone does things exactly the same as they did 3 decades ago. (Perhaps that is why long time republicans remained republicans even through the Trump years - they just could not conceive of change even when looking at an obvious lunatic :boggled:)

If nothing else 3 more decades of political infighting would have served to make Biden a much better and more careful liar. A trick that your previous POTUS had no capacity to learn.

Trumpism distilled to its essence!

Oh nos! the President had a list of faces and names showing he can read and identify people!

Quick! Overturn the Election and Place The Chosen One in as President For Life!

Well, no. You fundamentally misunderstand everything going on here.

This isn't even really an attack on Biden, it was an attack on smartcooky's false claims about Biden. Being a braggart and a liar is not unusual among politicians. Hell, I'm not even suggesting it should be disqualifying. Neither humility nor absolute honesty are actually at the top of anyone's priorities for the job, if we are being honest. Nobody really cares if a politician is a braggart and a liar, if they're still enacting the policies that one prefers. And I'm OK with that, because that's a rational position to take.

This sort of thing is primarily an irritant when a politician isn't doing what you want. People are prone to notice these flaws far more in a politician they already oppose than a politician they support, and people commonly latch on to such criticisms in the hopes that it might sway other people's opinions. Much like the whole criticism of Obama golfing too much and the turnaround with Trump golfing too much. In neither case was the criticism really about golf. In both cases it was used as a proxy, because debate about the real issues (policy) is intractable. But using such proxies doesn't usually work. And if you can't recognize the game that's being played, by BOTH sides, you're the mark.

The actual hypocrisy here which is flying right under your nose without notice is claiming that Biden is humble and honest when he isn't. Note that I'm not even claiming he's particularly bad in this respect, only that he isn't particularly good on these marks, and certainly doesn't fit smartcooky's description. Do I expect that to change anyone's vote? No, of course not. But many of the things that smartcooky cited aren't even what he really cares about. And that's actually OK. But let's start being honest about it, at least.

You claim you can notice hypocrisy, but you don't. That's irony for you.

I don't know which possibility is sadder. That you actually believe this or that you expect other people to.

I figured it out!

One of the posters is terribly confused, and thinks that people are saying that Joe Biden is as Pure as the Driven Snow, never speaks lies and is the ultimate Paragon of Lawful Good!

No.

The claim is that at his recent Press Conference, The President of the United States showed more humility, and spoke fewer misstatements than that of the previous officeholder. (An admittedly low bar to casually step over)

I don't know which possibility is sadder. That you actually believe this or that you expect other people to.

I doubt that Ziggurat believes a word of it. What I find remarkable is that Ziggurat actually does seem to expect others here to believe everything that he writes.

Oh darn now we've been mean so that proves that the Left is really the violent ones...

I don't have to, it's just my favorite one.

And still no actual direct denial that Biden is a braggart and a liar. Curious.

Sure, sure, you could have found one example from this millennium, you just chose not to. Right.

Not that I expected better, it's just sad what the right wing has sunk to these days.

This really has become the primary tactic of the Proudly Wrong.

Walk past a thousand houses on fire that your side has set, and stop at the small waste bin on fire in the driveway of one house that someone from the other side set and go "This. This right here. This is the fire we have to talk about" and just... like completely sell it straight that that makes perfect sense.

This is called great staff prep.

What part do you think is wrong, and why?

I don't think you can actually provide an answer, because I suspect you didn't even understand it.

This is called great staff prep.

I agree. If I were to face people I didn't regularly interact with, I would sure as well want a list of people with names and pictures and who I should call on.

I have yet to see any solid evidence that Biden was presented with a list of questions he was going to be asked however.

What part do you think is wrong, and why?

The part where you pretend to actually care.

Again I get your whole shtick. It's not that clever and it's certainly not that original. Your side has lit a thousand houses on fire so you walk up to one trashcan the other side has lit on fire and go "We need to talk about this fire right here, yes this one" and when someone points at the other fires you go "Oh so you're saying this trash can isn't on fire? Prove to me this trash can is not on fire!"

Nothing (well not nothing, actually a lot of things you say are completely detached from reality so bad that "wrong" doesn't even describe them but whatever) you say is wrong. What is it is is intentionally completely out of focus and perspective and hypocritical.

I get it. You're flexing your hypocrisy and cherry picking on us, daring us to do something about. It's adorable.

Oh it’s not “these days” - remember the narcissist thin skinned Obama……

That sums up well the predictable Dear Leader 'but Biden did it, too' defense we're seeing proffered by the usual people here. But I'd lay a wager that you could add up Biden's lies over his almost 5 decades in politics and they wouldn't come close to the amount of documented lies told by Trump during his single administration, which, according to the Washington Post, amounted to 30,573.

I think this is my favorite example of your post's point. To compare Biden to Trump as a "braggart and a liar" is like comparing the seasonal flu to the bubonic plague that wiped out a third of Europe's population in the 14th century. Sure, people die from both but they're hardly comparable. And I don't believe for a minute that he didn't "have to".
