Do you know LA County is still averaging 250 COVID-19 deaths per day. LA County has had (as of today) 22,904 casualties. LA County's COVID death rate is over 50% of the global death toll from a usual flu season.

Not by the bizarre way you attribute mortality, unless you can prove to us that none of them had health issues, or were obese. Unless you are sure they were taking their vitamins and their grape seed, you'd be a god damned hypocrite to attribute their deaths to the final thing that happened to kill them.

Sure! It is a small percentage of the total. And, indeed, there certainly are other, more dangerous issues like climate change that deserve more attention. With that said, 0.04% is a long, long ways away from the 0.6% that would be likely to die if everyone actually caught COVID, without factoring in overloading of health care systems and likely higher mortality rates caused by some of the variants. Going further, that 0.04% isn't even remotely indicative of the total damage being done, by a long shot, so just pulling that number out as if it were all that matters honestly shouldn't be convincing to anyone.

The OVERWHELMING portion of those dead people who had heart issues, obesity, and many of the other comorbidities would STILL BE ALIVE if it weren't for COVID. Period. The whole "of versus with" issue has been looked into a number of times and it has been consistently found that overwhelmingly it is "of" and usually additional steps to remove the "withs" from COVID death counts were taken.

I saw "America's Front Line Doctors" in the url, and that was enough to very safely say that it's not going to be credible. That group has been spreading covid disinformation for pretty much the entire length of the pandemic and seems to have become popular on the right-wing in connection to reinforcing right-wing lies about COVID.

Numerous studies on the psychology of conspiracy theorists have shown that one of their characteristics is a need for order, and a fear of change and uncertainty. This statement is a good example of that. The idea that a random mutation can occur and turn the world upside down is scary and unacceptable for people like Caroline13.
It is (in a bizarre way) comforting for these people to imagine a world in which major events are controlled, usually by some vast and shadowy organisation. This, to them, is preferable to the actual world, random, chaotic and messy as it is.

It seems investigative journalist Ken Klippenstein has made a fool of a very high profile anti-vaxxer, Dr. Naomi Wolf, exposing her as a complete fool.

Klippenstein sent her a quote from a doctor Dr. John Simms... "If a vaccine is effective, then why do we need to pressure people to take it?" He sent it as a direct message, together with a photo clip of Dr Simms, and she immediately Tweets it out to her moronic supporters, complete with the photo of Dr Simms, stethoscope around his neck, and the quote below it.

So Klippenstein, once again, has managed make a complete arse of a prominent person and expose her as a total moron on social media.

More importantly than this brilliant "gotcha", what he has really exposed is the abysmal level of research that these anti-vaxxers actually do. All he did get a screenshot of this adult film star, stick a quote on it, then send Wolf a flattering message and invited her to share it, and she did, without doing any fact checking! Just a few seconds with a reverse image search could have saved her the utter humiliation to being duped. Of course, the Tweet has been deleted, but not before the internet captured it for all time.

Given that she'd already doubled-down on her claim that "nanopatticles" were injected with vaccines to allow time travel - and she heard apple employees discussing this - it is a bit like shooting fish in a barrel.

ETA: but as far as the digression as to how useful undirected intellect is... I have no doubt that Dr Naomi Woolf is actually highly intelligent - it's that she has a huge blind spot and a lack of knowledge in this area where she's pontificating.
