Putin challenges Biden to Online Live Debate

NVM.

Screw it, you can take the exact excerpt of what Diaper Don said, and his admirers will still say he didn't say it. Not worth the bandwidth.

Well, I have unlimited fibre internet, so my bandwidth is essentially irrelevant

No, he talked about how it would be nice if there was something analogous to disinfectant, that cleaned out viruses the same way disinfectants clean up surfaces.

Bzzzt. Wrong!

Here is the exact verbatim quote, word for word

"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. So, we’ll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. That’s pretty powerful."

Trump said "disinfectant" not "something analogous to disinfectant"

Trump said "by injection inside" not "that cleaned out viruses the same way disinfectants clean up surfaces."

Walking it back later doesn't change what he said at the time.

The only way to spin what he said into your interpretation is to use some tortured pretzel logic. To paraphrase a well known protagonist character from a famous British comedy.... the precise correlation between your interpretations of what he said, and what he actually said, in so far as they can be determined and demonstrated, is such as to cause epistemological problems of sufficient magnitude as to lay upon the logical and semantic resources of the English language, a heavier burden than they can reasonably be expected to bear.

If that wasn't enough, the following day he said he was being "sarcastic." Jesus Christ asswipe, pick a lane.

The quote is classic Trumpese. The part you hilighted is nothing so much as nonsense using English language words. It is not possible to discern from his words what he actually thought he was saying. I doubt that he knew. There is no actual meaning to those words. He does appear to be suggesting that a disinfectant could be injected into people, but we will never know for sure.

But I do agree with you regarding the completely wrong analogy that theprestige tried to spin it into. Trump supporters have a strange compulsion to try to make it seem that Trump sometimes thought or spoke in a logical, sensible manner.

Trumpslaining Trumpspeak is near impossible.

No, he talked about how it would be nice if there was something analogous to disinfectant, that cleaned out viruses the same way disinfectants clean up surfaces.

Predictably, he fell face first into one of the classic failure modes of an appeal to analogy: Intentional bad faith interpretations and outright misrepresentations.
And now you've been reminded, yet again, that you're flat out wrong. Don't let that stop you from carrying his water bleach though.

So nothing controlled by the Putin autocracy, then. LOL.
Can you imagine footage of Putin stumbling airing on Russian TV? The videographer wouldn't have to be asked to destroy it.

The purpose of state media, at least many places, is to flatter the people in power. I often wonder what the rest of the world makes of it when the Western press lampoons its own leaders. I've heard of Chinese tourists being baffled by the difference between what they see of the outside world vs. what authorities permit for domestic consumption.

The saddest part of this ridiculous response is that you probably believe that Putin has never stumbled on stairs in his life. The bit about you never stumbling on stairs? Only a fool would believe that. Of course I've tripped running up the stairs. It's a common enough occurrence and to present it as anything else is just weird. The part about "not running for POTUS" is irrelevant and also rather a strange thing to say as neither is Biden.
I manage to take a spectacular pratfall once or maybe twice a year. I haven't been skiing in a while, so I'm behind in my wipeout quota.

Interesting thing about stairs.

Back in the 90's I worked in a building that had an odd step from the ground floor to the next, third from the top. Everyone stumbled on it. Turns out that the human mind concludes that every step on a staircase is identical, but the builders had poured the concrete such that there was one step higher that the rest. Even after years in the building, we all fell over it.

The point is that no matter where your foot expects to go, it ain't necessarily where it ends up.

The odd thing is that even though we took to forewarning people about it, not only did they still trip on it, so did we, and we knew all about it.

When I was about 12, I asked my mother if I could eat my dinner in my bedroom. She was hesitant but gave me permission to do so with the warning to be careful not to spill the spaghetti bolognese on the new carpet. You guessed it: there were three steps leading up to the hallway and I managed to trip on them. The plate of spaghetti bolognese flew out of my hands as I went sprawling head first.

Anyone who claims they've never tripped on stairs isn't telling the truth...or has memory problems.

Aha . A Conspiracy Theorist living on the idea that people who say things publicly do not really mean them .
And that otherwise generally agreed use of language means different things when it becomes a hindrance .

Where has she proclaimed her 'communism'?

Can you point me to a quote?

Back on point, why would Biden bother with a debate? What does Russia have that we want? NATO and nukes keep them in check militarily. The rest of the industrialized world gets their best and brightest who can't or don't want to try to make a living there.

They want to rejoin our community of nations, we're not trying to join them. Manboobs knows what he has to do for sanctions relief and restore the faith of the industrial countries to do business. We did to plan for a post Putin, regional power that still has the nukes it needed when it was a great power.

Probably as a result of bashing their head on the stairs when they face-planted!

There is no reason at all for Biden to get into some sort of public debate with Putin.

In fact, I expect that such a debate would be quite counter-productive since doing so would elevate and validate the status of Putin because he could honestly claim that he stood up to the President of the United States.

Furthermore, I am sure that Putin would not try such a stunt with Trump because the interests of Putin are well served by having a stupid, worthless, POS ass like the Trump in the White House.

Knock off the personalisations.

In short, it would have the same effect inside Russia as when Kim Jong Un met T**** publicly at Panmunjom. That is, for the internal grandification of Dear Leader, and to elevate them to an unjustifiable global status internationally.

Anyway, what would they debate? "That this house recognises ham-and-cheese sandwiches as breakfast food"? For-and-against, 10 minutes a side.

That's funny. I didn't notice any change in Kim's global status after that meeting. Did the Aussies start fawning over him or something?
