Evidence of these "corrupt and ruthless" acts you claim have been committed by Biden?
It's "corrupt acts" and "ruthless acts". Not necessarily acts that were both at the same time. And I'm open to the possibility that Joe Biden has never committed a single corrupt or ruthless act in his entire political career.
Remember this started with me saying I didn't think Putin being "in New York on a January evening" would be much of a handicap in a debate against Biden. After all, he held a number of political and government positions in St Petersburg, which has a comparable winter climate.
So no, showing up topless to a debate in NYC in the wintertime doesn't seem like much of a handicap. Especially for someone who weathered the Cold War as a KBG officer and is currently the Oligarch Wrangler in Chief for the Russian Federation.
What acts are you talking about? And why compare these numbers? How about the number of ruthless acts Putin has perpetrated?
I infer that Vladimir Putin has been the target of ruthless and corrupt acts many times, in a career that includes KGB service, corrupt commerce fixer for St Peterburg, and of course autarch of the Russian Federation.
As for how many ruthless and corrupt acts he's perpetrated, I assume he's given as good as he got. Better than that, actually, since he's not only survived, but risen to the top of what is by all accounts a
very ruthless and corrupt system.
Remember, this sidebar started with smartcooky trying to handicap Putin in a hypothetical debate with Biden. My point in the comparison was that his handicap seems like weak sauce, when you consider Putin's career path, and what he's likely been through to get to where he is today.
Was Putin persecuted in some egregious way?
From what we know of the two men and their backgrounds, it seems obvious that Vladimir Putin has likely been through a lot worse, and done a lot worse, than Joe Biden has, over the course of their respective careers. If the question is, which of the two is likely to be tougher in a debate - or in any other cirumstance - the answer is probably going to be Vladimir Putin. Look at it this way: Vladimir Putin was a KGB officer in East Germany. What does Biden have? Making friends with black kids while lifeguarding at the community pool?
What would Biden need to have, for a comparable origin story? Well, first, he'd need to have spent some time as a CIA station chief in South America, doing his part to prop up the banana republics on behalf of Chiquita and the other vested interests of the US power elite. Then he'd have to, I dunno, take over managing the system of financial kickbacks and crony contracts for a city like Chicago or Newark.
After that the comparison must break down. For the next step in Biden's Putin-like career, the US government would have to collapse, with Biden emerging as the overlord in charge of protecting the interests of Jeff Bezos-Rockefeller-JP Morgan-Robber Baron and his cronies/competitors. These are people who don't really exist in the US, but do exist in the Russian Federation.
So, all in all, I don't think showing up topless to a winter debate in New York is much of a handicap for Putin. After all, he lived in St Petersburg. And he's probably weathered a lot worse than the occasional nipply afternoon.
