Split Thread A second impeachment

I absolutely believe that McConnell would like to impeach Trump and banish him from GOP politics. I believe he can't stand Trump or his supporters.

But that is secondary to his own power. You can always count on McConnell to do what is best for himself above everyone else.

I don't think he cares about Dolt 45's followers so long as they serve his purposes, but that's a minor matter. Toupee Fiasco himself, of course, is actually a major obstacle, mostly because he lacks any redeeming traits or skills. The second paragraph is the important one, and we fully agree on that.

This Law and Order video is so funny coming from the Liar in Chief who literally offered to pay the legal fees to any who beat up protesters at his rallies and told police not to be "too gentle" with people they arrested when they put them in patrol cars.

But the planned rioters where there BECAUSE they believed Trump ordered them to be there to attack the Capitol. Jesus H Christ!

ETA: Trump also saw the crowds reaction to his words whenever he said fight and used inflammatory words. He knew damn good and well what he was doing and that he was inciting them.

Really pathetic show by VanderVeen equating a Black Congresswoman from year several years ago objecting to certification because of 'voter suppression' with Trump inciting violence because he wanted to block democracy, and also arguing Trumps rights under Amendment 1, when the House had already ruled that the impeachment trial was constitutional. Quite a disgraceful show. As for Castor, he didn't say anything at all except highlight Trump's one use of the word peaceful. If you recall, I said at the time that Trump chose his words carefully because he knew they would be quoted back at him.

The claim that Trump was pro-Law and Order was the epitome of logical fallacy. As if that prevents far right thugs from using violence to impose their version of it.

For all the good it will do, just sent to my two Senators from Tennessee, with appropriate Senator’s names, of course:
Did you mail a letter? I heard at one point that actual letters are taken more seriously than emails. Don't know if it's true.

Going that way, it would arrive too late to make a difference here. But yes, snail mail carries more impact, to my understanding.

RON JOHNSON: "I think the president’s lawyers blew the House manager case out of the water. They legally eviscerated them. … And they certainly proved that the First Amendment applies to political speech probably more than anything."

Oh, and Castor making a special pleading that Trump is a victim of 'Cancel Culture' by the House Managers, was the most stupendously inutterably vacuous submission of the trial.

Here is a man who has cancelled seven Muslim countries from flying to the US, canceled Mexican kids from being with their parents at the border (Melania wearing a coat which read, 'I don't care, do you care?'), cancelled out the people dying of Covid19 as 'nobodies', cancelled out two innocent protesters shot by one of his supporters, cancelled out Officer Sicknick, cancelled out Ashli Babbit, wanted to cancel out the votes of the majority. Trump has even cancelled out his Capitol Hill mob as criminals who deserve the longest sentences.

If that was stand-up comedy, that was three hours of dead pan gaslighting.

They could have run home movies of their kids and Johnson would have said the same thing.

Exactly.

Johnson's remark is ridiculous. But this is the concept of the big lie. Repeat it a lot and forcefully and people start to believe.

Per ABC commentary they misquoted the House manager. Can't find it in print but it will show up I'm sure.

As for the slippery slope argument, the GOP already proved they would evict a duly elected POTUS if/when they have a majority in both Houses. They tried to get rid of Clinton with Ken Starr on the flimsiest of premises: entrapped lying about his sexual affairs. That was very worrying at the time. I thought they could so easily oust a POTUS.

But bringing it up here as if this was just a political motive was disingenuous.

There is also the issue many of the Trumpers already at the Capitol building had devices they were listening to Trump's speech on.

Ooo, what did Trump know about the riot, when, what did he do about it, be specific? Per Collins and Murkowski.

Trump defense answer: deflect, dodge, simply don't answer.

Does a counselor asking for bail for a rioter urge more rioting?

Yes.

LOL!!!!!

Graham is an idiot.
