1: RFK Jr spouts a whole heap of dangerous, unsustantiated pish, so anyone who stops him for even a short time is doing a public service. And the berk would likely have no kind of public platform if he didn't havethat family connection.

2: Can you lot make your minds up about the pharmaceutical industry? Usually they are castigated for making too much money, which is just acting like any company is required to in a capitalist system. But now they are Communist? Like Supermeerkat says, I'd just love to know what you think Communist actually means.
 
Caroline13, leaving aside the question of whether RFK Jr is right or wrong with his claims (and he is obviously '20 minute jazz odyssey' wrong), why do you think that he should be allowed to use someone else's platform to spread his ideas?

Colchicine was approved by the FDA in 2009. The pharmaceutical company making it had a 7-year exclusivity contract, and the price was, naturally enough, exorbitant.
It is now available as a generic, which is manufactured by two companies- Prasco Pharmaceuticals and Takeda Pharmaceuticals, and is much cheaper.
So basically, every part of what you just said about pharmaceutical companies was wrong.

For whatever multitude of reasons to not get them on a personal level there are reasons to go along with it on a societal level.

There are still many places in the world that don't get even a basic level of medical care or vaccines. They wish they could to see their kids not suffer and die.

The bigger problem is the dead kids aren't around at 82 years of age to counter your argument of how dangerous a vaccine can be.

That right there is the heart of the anti-vaxxer hypocrisy. Mass vaccination was responsible for the eradication of smallpox, a benefit to society which they share. And for them to rail against "power, control, Communist ways" is ridiculous- their whole schtick is "freedom from society's limits" when it's convenient for them; but let society shrug and say "ok, we won't force you or your kids to get the vaccinations, but one consequence is that your kids won't be able to go to our schools," and see how fast they screech in indignation at being taken at their own word and given the freedom they demanded.

I saw a video where Bill Nye (I think it was Bill) explained how this is wrong using an analog. Here's what he said:

If the mask is increased in size to the size of a soccer net, then atoms and simple molecules are about the size of ping pong balls and can go through the net easily. In this scale, the virus was about the size of a VW van and the water droplets the virus is transmitted on is even bigger.

This the part where we have to explain that until a private company is able to refuse to provide its services to an entity that it finds morally reprehensible, the government must require every private company to provide its services to any entity that can pay for it's services whether or not the private company agrees with the entity or not.

Some people just do not want to get that the First Amendment prevents the Government from infringing on people's freedom of speech. Private companies are not bound by it at all.

And of course no private company is bound to provide services to anyone who can pay for the services or goods, except for certain listed categories or classes. And even in those cases certain institutions etc., are exempt if they meet certain criteria. Thus a private company can refuse service to someone because they don't want to serve people who wear socks and sandals for example. And if it is a private, member only club it is an exception or could be. (Thus Country Clubs that exclude Blacks, Jews etc.)

And of course fundamentalist Schools routinely violate rules regarding non discrimination because they are allowed exceptions. Thus Fundamentalist Schools can refuse to hire non-Fundamentalists, Gays etc.

Of course if people can discriminate against people etc., they find morally reprehensible I suppose they would have no problem with people refusing to serve Fundamentalist Christians because they find them morally abborent. Of course some people find Jews, blacks etc., to be morally disgusting an would like to be allowed to make their lives difficult by discriminating against them. Those days the desire to want to be able to discriminate is usually directed by Fundamentalists against those "icky" Gay people. Well if they want to deny services etc., to Gay people because of "moral" objections then I want private institutions, companies etc., to be able to discriminate against morally bankrupt Fundamentalists because they are indeed morally abborent.
