The Biden Presidency

It’s a difference between reporting and journalism, reporting today has been elevated because that is what gets you your click-bait headlines i.e “follow the money”.

Good short article about the difference from over 10 years ago - quite prescient given how reporting has come to dominate:

https://www.theguardian.com/media/greenslade/2009/dec/10/newspapers-pressandpublishing

“.... To illustrate his point he offers this straightforward comparison:

Reporting: A 747 aircraft crashed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean yesterday.

Journalism: A review of maintenance reports of the 747 aircraft that crashed last month revealed that the airplane had a faulty engine parts. Reports indicate that airline management ignored warnings that the parts were malfunctioning. ....”

Kinda like how it's being "reported" that Biden wore a Rolex with no mention being made that the company is owned by a non-profit trust that donates most of the money it makes to charity.

Divisive? The poor little snowflake is being dramatic, I see.

Do they even really know what it means? They know T**** was accused of it, so now they want to throw it back.

Hint: Divisive means trying to split up the country. It does not mean that the current president is not the one you would have preferred; that is called democracy.

What's the fuss with Biden wearing a Rolex at the inauguration?

I own two and I am by no means 'rich' or 'elite'

It's an expensive watch. More than most people can afford. The Rolex Datejust Biden wears retails for $7K. But there are more expensive watches out there.

Such as the Patek Philippes and Vacheron Constantins that Trump wore. Some of which cost $50K up to a $500K.

My $300 Seiko has kept perfect time for years. I wonder what theirs do that mine does not. (Other than tell people they have more money than they can use.)

They are just well made things.

I have a 70S Submariner that was my dads. It was the last of the 'working' divers watches, domed acrylic crystal and no date window. Worth a lot more now than when they were new.
I also have a more modern Sub with date and 'cyclopes' magnifier lens on the crystal which is sapphire, it is all but impossible to scratch or break in normal use plus it has a ceramic rotating bezel rather than the printed version on the older watch. what they are.

I wear a casio digital watch that I've worn for more than a decade. Think it cost me less than $50 when I got it. And it probably does a lot more than the watches that Biden or Stubby McBonespurs wear.

I guess its more image than anything else.

Wow, I guess. Does it keep good time like mine has for 17 (I think) years? I'm thinking mine must be well made too, for what it was manufactured to do.

I'm sure the good, devout and well read Christian critics of Biden's watch understand that, just as with expensive ointment, they, like their ever-frumentacious leader, would have sold it and given the money to the poor.

If it belonged to his dead son, as suggested above, then I am fully supportive of him wearing it. The monetary value is utterly irrelevant.

(I wonder if Trump also got his pricey watches from dead people )

They are jewelry, not timepieces. Any cheap quartz watch, a Timex or a Casio, keeps near-perfect time, better than almost any mechanical watch. Above that level, you're paying for prestige, exclusivity, jeweled cases etc.
