The Biden Presidency

Some things are difficult to predict, some less so.

The Wall Street Journal (Murdoch) yesterday:

(Image of article regarding "how much government debt is too much")
In defense of the Wall Street Journal...

Even though it is owned by the Murdoch clan, the WSJ hasn't exactly been mouthpieces for Trump's agenda (at least not on the level of Fox News). They have published articles that point to republican tax cuts contributing to the deficit, and calling Trump's economic forecasts "shakey". (I am not saying all of their articles were that critical of Trump; just that they were a bit more balanced than Fox News.)

I guess a newspaper that targets an audience of intelligent investors has to present the news differently than a news network targeting the garden variety MAGAchuds.

The fence is already down.
It's almost like President Biden is saying "Look at this, you little baby. I'm not hiding from the people."

Is that a real picture (i.e. did Biden wear a cap that said 'we just did' in response to "make america great again")?

It would be funny if it were true..

It is...

but I can't really see Biden "trolling" trump that way.

The thing is, he trolled Trump, but didn't make a big deal about it... didn't call Trump a name - or say anything about the hat... he just wore it. He had no comment about it.

That is classy... very classy

Fortunately, our border with the States is closed. You can keep him.

It may stay that way after Biden cancelled the Keystone pipeline...I never considered Biden would start a trade war with Alberta/Canada but here we go!
Heck of a first day in office.

Hey Canada, miss Trump yet? :D

I have two dozen plus Canadian relatives. I assure you, they don't.

The thread on the Trump Presidency reached part 27. I feel like the Biden Presidency will be twice as long and have half as many posts. Although, some of our conservatives seem to be coming out of hiding to talk about really important things now that Trump is gone. So, all bets are off if Biden wears a tan suit.

Quite possibly far less, given the almost certain reduction of atrocities that is likely to happen.

Still, it does look like you are right about the coming out to talk about the really important things.

Case in point.

Over-egging the pudding as usual.

There is not going to be a trade war with Canada. Support for the proposed extension is not great in Canada

Hey Canada, miss Trump yet? :D

Not a chance... they are mostly happy he's goneberder*

*typo intentional

I don't have that many (seven spread across two family branches) but I have a number of ex-pat Canadian friends and acquaintances, and some regular customers here here in NZ. I have yet to find one who doesn't think Trump was selfish, egotistical idiot.

No one has actually missed Trump in his entire life.

Support for the pipeline in Canada is wishy-washy at best. Of course, support is greatest in Alberta since they stand to gain the most from it. Biden certainly hasn't made any friends there.

That said, oil from the Alberta tar sands isn't all that environmentally friendly. I don't know if it's better or worse than fracking, though.

Not in the slightest. If nothing else, Biden will bring a lot of predictability to Canada/US relations. It might not always be good—Biden's a protectionist on trade issues—but he likely won't do rash things like slapping a 10% tariff on aluminum out of the blue months after negotiating a free trade deal.

No comments on the tens of thousands of USAians who died because of Trump's incompetence, stupidity and cowardice?

Now is this Winter of Discontent, made Glorious Spring by this Son on Scranton.
