Amen and a-woman

You gotta love how this is a trigger for those on the right and not "Grab them by the pussy".

It's a perfect example of hypocrisy.

The one thing I have agreed with many on the right has been political correctness often goes too far. This is their kind of PC. Standing up for women means we "care too much".

Silly boy....that was just "locker room talk" so that makes it all right.

Doubt it - John McWhorter noted the same on Twitter, as well as this use from 2003, but the subject is the sort of thing that nobody cares about until reactionaries decide to fall over flailing and howling like a soccer player trying to get an opponent yellow carded.

No need to cast aspersions. I am genuinely curious.

It’s not something, because I haven’t been to church of any kind in 30 years or so, I ever would have heard. Ain’t no Catholic priest saying “Awoman.” Most people haven’t heard this before. I can accept that it was meant as a joke, but I’m not sure if I buy the idea that it was in common use as asserted by your Tweeter.

It’s a big deal because it’s an easy target for partisan big-deal-making. It’s not really a big deal to me personally because I think religion is stupid in the first place.

"'A-woman' is just sacristy talk; every priest I know has said it as a joke while getting dressing with the alter boys...."

I don't really know what aspersions I'm supposedly casting, but I wouldn't expect this sort of thing to be said in Catholic masses. Not that I've actually attended a catholic mass, but from the few weddings I've been to, they seem pretty...uptight and stuffy :D.

Nah, it's a big deal because the usual gang of old white male republicans decided that this was what the unimportant thing they needed to bitch about yesterday (two days ago? Actually, who cares?) If it wasn't that, it'd be some half-sentence from Hillary Clinton or something.
