Trump's Coup d'état.

I wonder if some Dems shouldn't challenge the results in some states where Trump won, particularly where the margins were close like NC and Florida. If there's going to be political theater, why should the Repubs have all the fun?

Because at certain point somehow has to be the grownup and I'd like to pretend that ever having a little bit of dignity in my Congress is something I can pretend might someday still happen.

Also I don't really care all that much about "When they go low, we go high" as a moral stance because it's kind of pointless, but the Democrats just aren't as good at this kind of theatrics and won't come out it looking as good.

The last thing Biden needs is Democrats claiming that widespread fraud occurred during the election.

Who knows, maybe they are quietly investigating. But making a fuss about it isn't going to help.

ETA: Plus what Joe said, they're not that good at it. I wondered too, but it didn't make sense to make it a public display.

Amused on several on the left here showing theri complet contempt for the American people. Shades of The Party Member's attitude toward the Proles in "1984".

Just a few examples of deserving contempt. MAGAchuds wearing T-shirts stating, "I'd rather be Russian than Democrat." Such idiocy and stupidity borne of brainwashing gleefully soaked up cannot but be ridiculed. As so for the many who see face coverings in a pandemic as some rights-erasing tool; a few of whom will attack or even kill over it. Last, elected representatives openly supporting the circumvention of the Constiturion.

The US needs to pull its collective head out of its ass. Look to Germany of the '20s and '30s to see how it all can turn to crap. It's not that "It can't happen here." It's already beginning. Wait at your peril.

He thinks this will make him a major power in the GOP, but I really doubt that. This will end up embrassing the GOP...Moscow Mitch knows that...and Hawley will go back being a back bench Senator not though highly of by his colleagues.

Mitch will get even.

ANd you solution is.......

Most nteresting thing about Hawley is he is going against Moscow Mitch; IHawlwy is beneath contempt but I wonder if a number of GOP senators are getting disgusted with Mitch's autocratic ways.

Or the new guys don't know their place yet.

Or Mitch gave him the OK so Mitch would not look like the one doing it. Mitch has to pretend he plans to cooperate with Biden.

I agree. But if they were to challenge any states it should be N Carolina (Graham) and Kentucky (McConnell) to bring to the public's attention those two states used voting machines that could be hacked. The machines were connected to the Internet.

The risk for Moscow Mitch is that even if the republicans win in Georgia, their margin in the house will be verrrry slim. He has little room to maneuver.

Granted Hawley won't necessarily be friendly to the democrats, but he could (occasionally) throw a wrench into the works on some less crucial issues.

Profile in courage, Alabama senator Shelby: “Although I didn't like the outcome of the election, I think the election's over.”

86 year old who is probably not running for reelection (unless something, other than his age, has changed since the article I quote below).

https://www.rollcall.com/2019/08/05/the-gop-senator-who-hasnt-raised-any-campaign-money-so-far/:
Senate Appropriations Chairman Richard C. Shelby has raised no money at all from individuals or PACs for his personal campaign account since he won his last election in 2016, which could fuel speculation that the 85-year-old is serving his last term.

The Republican margin in the House is still negative.

The dems should just sit back and let the GOP make fools of themselves.
That's certainly what I'm hoping for. Actually it's not so much I want them to look foolish; I want them to look divided. I wonder is more Republican senators will flout McConnell's edict. Probably not, as they are elected statewide and don't benefit from gerrymandered legislative districts. The representatives will be calculating whether taking a pro-Trump stance will be better or worse for them in the midterms.

I'm not a big fan of voting machines. I kept hearing references to "algorithms" that could "flip votes." And I was wondering, why the hell would you program that capability into any machine? It was probably just right-wing disinformation but I didn't do any deep research.

Someone tried to make hay with Dominion machines being connected to the Internet, but it turned out to be after voting had ceased and results were being transmitted to wherever they were collected.
