Major explosion in downtown Nashville

By the way, this is the video clip that all the conspiracy theorists say proves the RV did not explode, because the last remnants of the explosion fireball dissipate across the street, and they claim that means the explosion came from that spot.

I wonder what sort of compulsion drives people to make up conspiracies.

A guy blew up an RV. What's so hard to believe about that? I suppose I could make sense of saying the someone is lying about the motive, but why lie about blowing up an RV?

What I mean is that maybe there was a conspiracy to destroy Dominion voting machines stored in an AT&T building, but one way to do that would be to blow up an RV. Another way to do it would be to destroy them, and blow up the evidence of the destruction by planting an RV full of explosives. What you wouldn't do is douse the building in napalm, and then photoshop some things to make it look like you had blown up an RV.

ETA: Pay no attention to the exclamation point in the title. I clicked it by accident, and I don't know how to eliminate it. I think there's a way, because that's happened to me before, but I can't recall how to do it.

Last night, in another internet venue someone responded to a comment I made by posting that "conspiracy theory" was a term that was coined by the CIA to cast doubt on conspiracy theorists or, as he put, "to make truthers seem crazy". In his case, I don't think he needed the CIA's help.

I think it was mentioned in a thread here on this forum, but some people online condemned Weird Al Yankovic as a government agent, claiming that his song "Foil" and the accompanying music video were part of a plot to make conspiracy theorists look ridiculous and discredit them.

You have to feel sorry for Petulia Clark ;now her biggest hit will be forever identifies with this act of madness.

I doubt it. This will quickly be forgotten, I'm pretty sure. How often do you even think of or hear about the bump stock guy in Las Vegas, and he had, like what, 80, 90 victims? I think that was last year, but I can't even be sure of that.

Compared to that, this was a big nothing.

Maybe I'm uncommonly blasé.

Damn, Petula Clark is 88!

Blimey!

Clark had noted she was about 12 years older //in her early 30's then the other big British pop stars of the 1960's, and was sort of a mother figure to many of them.
Always liked her music, have a couple of CDs.

No, I agree with you. It will be hard for most people to even remember this bombing, and the vast majority of people who hear that Downtown song will make no association at all.

In fact, I would think most people don't even associate a murderous incident with that Boomtown Rats song. Most people just assume it is about a person who doesn't like Mondays, and who can't relate to that?

Maybe not, but that incident was the raison d'être for that song, so I still think of that incident. When I heard the song earlier this year, I looked up the girl involved and found she was still alive and incarcerated.

Well, not a girl anymore, of course...

Sure, and the highlighed is my point. Even something that was actually about the incident has more or less lost that connection in many people's minds.

I would say very few people under the age of 40, if they even hear the song, would make the connection to a forgotten incident.

Tell me why,
I don't like Mondays,
Tell me why,
I don't like Mondays,

I'm gonna shoot the whole day down...

Will be forever stuck in my brain. And I to recall the event because of the song.

From Nashville station WKRN 2:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Federal investigators are looking into evidence the Antioch man who detonated a bomb in downtown Nashville Christmas morning had spent time hunting for alien life forms in a nearby state park and was interested in “lizard people,” according to law enforcement sources.

The sources told ABC News that Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, may have been motivated, at least in part, by “paranoia over 5G technology,” but that they also found writings that contained ramblings about assorted conspiracy theories, including the idea of shape-shifting reptilian creatures that appear in human form and attempt world domination.

Federal agencies are working to figure out if the beliefs somehow contributed to Warner detonating a bomb inside of an RV parked near Second Avenue North and Commerce Street around 6:30 a.m. Friday, killing himself, injuring three others and damaging more than 40 buildings.

ETA: ABC News's original report

So yeah.

No you're not. It's the proliferation of such jackasses that has withered their expected laurels of attention and name recognition.
