Any lawyer who takes such cases on contingency is an idiot,

Any layer who takes such cases on a fee basis is an idiot if (s)he doesn't get paid in advance.

Personally, I doubt there will any such cases; Stone's a blowhard.

Oh but there will be. The problem is that they're idiots. A man who has an idiot for a lawyer has an idiot for a lawyer.

I will not stand by and watch this travesty of a bill happen without reigning in Big Tech. End Section 230 now, before it is too late. So bad for our Country. Show courage, and do what’s right!!!

Our $740 defense bill is a gift to China, Russia & Big Tech. It fails to terminate the internationally dangerous Section 230, won’t allow us to bring our troops back home (where they belong), renames & destroys our forts & National Monuments, & makes 5G almost impossible!

Pres. Trump vetoed the defense spending bill.
The president pledged to veto the legislation if it did not include the nixing of Section 230, a provision protecting internet companies from being held liable for what third parties post on their platforms.

In letter to Congress explaining his veto, President Trump says defense bill "includes language that would require the renaming of certain military installations," and says it will "restrict the President's ability to withdraw troops from Afghanistan, Germany, and South Korea."

I hear the new firm of Giuliani and Powell & Asssochats is going to be available come 21st January, subject to court appearance dates.

Will Twitter ban Trump in 2021? It has not banned Rudy. Rudy's tweet lead to his podcasts on Youtube. They still are full of all the Trump claims. The press is a left wing conspiracy. No free speech on TV or Twitter, but...somehow Youtube? He babbles on about stolen election in PA.
https://twitter.com/RudyGiuliani

Rudy's Youtube is labeled with disclaimer that the electoral college has decided for Bidnen.

There is a comment by Trump at Rudy's Youtube entry, and 400 answers to that.

Non-journalistic headline by former news outlet @Reuters. "Millions of Americans lose jobless benefits as Trump refuses to sign aid bill." Wrong, they lose those benefits because the left refused to send a clean bill that actually helps the US more than others. #FakeNews

BTW,given Trump's doubling down tendacy, I think he will veto outright or pocket veto the spending bill, sending the country into chaos.
I honestly think is in last days of Hitler mode, and wants to punish the American people for not being worthy of him.....
His immediate target appears to be the Republican Party, for letting him down after everything he's done for them. They were a spent force when he stepped in : he saved them and now they let all this happen, and they could have stopped it! They could still stop it!

I think Trump's refusal to sign the coronavirus relief bill is motivated by him wanting to punish congress somehow. Make them stay in Washington.

Does that make sound right? Just trying to make sense of this.

On the other side of the aisle, one of the president's frequent defenders, retiring GOP Rep. Peter King of New York wrote a lengthy Facebook post explaining that the line items in the bill objected to by the president were "specifically requested by the Trump administration."

"You got that -- every item," King wrote. "That includes aid to Egypt, Pakistan, Burma, Sudan and Central America, and funding for the Smithsonian."

"Additionally it was totally deceptive for the president to say that Congress failed to provide assistance to restaurants. The truth is that [Queens Democratic] Congresswoman Grace Meng and I co-sponsored legislation to give direct grants to restaurants but the Trump Administration adamantly refused to assist restaurants."

King and Meng's state of New York, along with Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Jersey, and California among others. has been hit hard by economic "shutdowns" imposed by the state governments, which have in turn crippled the restaurant and entertainment industries.

In his post, King made it clear that he was not intentionally critiquing Trump with his remarks, applauding his fellow New Yorker's record, especially on law and order.

So he is refusing to sign it because it contains things requested by his own administration. And because it doesn't contain things that his administration "adamantly opposed." "He's angry that not enough Republicans are supporting his claim that he won the election. I don't think he actually cares one whit what's in the bill. He just wants to bend congress to his will by throwing a temper tantrum.

We can defend ourselves for $740? That seems like an awfully low bid. What do we get for that $740?

Someone explain it to me again: How does this "section 230" about internet responsibility for third party commentary relate in any way to US defence matters? I'm just not seeing it...

More to the point, I fail to see what is Trump's beef with it.

Trump is just trying to get revenge for the #DiaperDon thing that trended on Twitter. That really riled him up. It has nothing to do with anything else.

Trump doesn't even understand what it does. Essentially, it allows companies like Twitter and Facebook to edit content posted on their services at their discretion without being held responsible for said content. What Trump doesn't understand (along with just about every other aspect of reality) is that stripping these content distribution platforms of this protection will require them to far more aggressively censor content; if they don't, they could be held liable for user content in both criminal and civil courts. Trump's Twitter access would be disabled almost instantly in that scenario since he slanders people daily.
