The important thing is that the people need the money. I think that's the only consideration.

Apparently nobody gives a **** about the deficit anymore.

Let me amend that: Apparently nobody gives a **** about the deficit anymore until January 21st.

this = pardons

or

this = pandemic bill

They're both subjects of posts just above yours.

Pandeimic bill. You really think Trump cares about 2000 dollars to each American> you don't do business with somebody like Trump.
The last 24 hours shows that.

SOme Republicans are shocked that Trump has turned on them like this.

Guess they forgot the Frankenstein Monster always turns on it's creator.

Just listened to a bunch of congressinal leaders on both sides and they seem to be stunned and clueless.
A couple of unaminous consent bills from Pelosi and McCarthy that have zero chance of passing.

I have pretty much been a "James Buchanan was the worst President" supporter, but the past 24 hours have changed my mind, Trump is the worst President ever.

He likes to feel like the god-king.

I don't think he's as mad about the Democrats not showing him any love as he is mad about the Republicans he feels just won't make him king like he believes they can.

But the bottom line, he's getting even with McConnell.

I have to repeat;The Frankenstein monsters turns o it's creator.

America needs a Star Chamber to mete out justice in order to counter these corrupt pardons.

We Americans don't work like that.
I think it may be like in the Old West, where in situations where the legal government was hopelessly corrupt and often in league with out and out criminals, the citiznes took matters into their own hands, got rid of the corrupt officials ,and restored decent government. San Francisco in the Gold Rush and Montana in the 1860's are examples.

Trump lives in a weird world where action and consequences don't matter. He has an idea that he likes or thinks will benefit him and that is all that matters. I think he feels that this might help him with his 2024 bid, or at least the possible bid for one of his sprogs.

He is perfectly aware that the Trumpistas will latch on to this as an example of how great a guy he really is and how much he cares for them. Everything else will be forgotten or continue in denial.

It's not his money, so he can say what he wants and do what he does best---play the toddler in tantrum mode at the toy store. Also this opens the gateway for establishing superpacs and funds to continue to fleece his gullible marks.

Have you seen the movie "The Star Chamber"? I found it a marvelous speculative film. They even took the trouble to describe how their "Star Chamber" worked in a way that most of the audience would find satisfyingly just. It went badly anyway. I'm not saying movies have to be real, but I do think any such attempt would lead to significant folly. The movie is just a dramatized example of how it might.

@LindseyGrahamSC

Congress should vote to Repeal Section 230 as requested by President @realDonaldTrump.

I will not vote to override presidential veto unless effort is made to wind down Section 230.

Well, let's be fair, that's hardly a new state.

Congress is a disfunctinal insitution, has been for a long time, and both parties share the blame..A lot of it has to with the inckredibly archaic rules under which they operate, which both parties yell about when they do not have a majority, but never change when they have a majority.
I know people here want to blame the GOP for everything wrong with congress..and the current GOP congressmen are a disgrace...but I have seen pleny of stupidity from the Dems as well.
