He's outflanking his own party.

Pelosi and Schumer are all for it.

He just sucked the air out of the sails the GOP Georgia Senators were hoping to cruise to victory on. How can they campaign down the final stretch on $600 checks if everyone is talking about $2000 checks?

Trump threatening to veto the relief bill to increase individual relief and cut pork is kind of crazy. Because you know the only way the R would agree to the paltry $600 is by adding a bunch of pork. Kills them in GA too, they’ll have to explain why their party is the ones going against Trump. Really shooting them in the foot and I don’t even really understand why.

Because Moscow Mitch congratulated Biden, after more than a month. Toupee Fiasco's simply throwing grenades at people. Pelosi looks to ignore everything else and say "$2000 checks? Okay, we'll pass it, have fun squabbling with one another."

Since Dolt 45 has been absent from negotiations, Moscow Mitch has sat on his hands because he simply seems to hate ordinary people, and the GOP in general complicit in his lawbreaking and failure, they all deserve each other.

(And maybe some folks will figure out not to vote for the GOP)
 
I haven't had the stomach to look it up yet, but Trump has pardoned a raft of criminals today, including some crooked congressmen and Blackwater murderers.
And we've got four weeks left.
 
Covid relief should have been a stand alone bill. If he did end up vetoing, granted unlikely, would anything change or get done before the new year? Foreign aid aside, these mega bills with zero hour yes/no votes are a problem that doesn't seem to be addressed no matter the administration.

Could the democrats uphold a veto with the requirement of a 2k stimulus? Would they hold that up if the breaking point was something particular Trump said such as removing payments to illegal immigrants? Foreign aid? After all this time waiting for some relief to pass, pushing it for a better deal actually makes sense. I wonder if the American people would hold out an additional few weeks to triple or quadruple the aid they would otherwise receive. Saying they need it now has been true for months, what would change over the next week/couple weeks?

Won't matter. All this continuous stream of "FAKE ELECTION!" from the White House Fuhrerbunker is driving the GOP voters away from voting. And the more that happens, the better it will be for the Dem candidates, who I gather already hold a slim lead in polls and betting. So the Dems are just letting Trump do their job for them...he is just so good at thoroughly sabotaging his own team! ;)

Just to poke at this now that I've had a chance to hear more... Supposedly, it's targeting the people running such operations for profit, not viewers. If so, I don't actually have a problem with it.
 
One aspect of the Trump era was the ridiculous habit of the MSM (especially the NYT) to publish an endless series of articles about the people who voted for the winner of the 2016 election, Trump.

The good news is that's finally over. Now the NYT is writing articles about the people who voted for the loser of the 2020 election, Trump: "Why ‘Pivot Counties’ That Stuck With Trump May Be a Warning for Democrats" (pay walled, but you won't miss much).

Extra points to that article for combining the "Trump voters" genre with the "Dems in disarray" genre.

(To give an idea, since the 2020 election, the NYT has devoted 7 articles to Trump voters, 1 to Biden voters.)

Even Jonathan Turley is critical about the pardon of crooked congressmen.

If the President truly wanted to "drain the swamp," these pardons would seem to be nothing short of a swamp reclamation project with the reintroduction of the local fauna.
