All it took to create them was a narcissistic jackass who unpegged them from objective reality. Once fantasy prevails in politics, anything is possible, even if it destroys the country and everything it stands for. Internet echo chambers and a clown are all it took to kill the dream, though perhaps it's not dead yet.

I agree with others here that they'll fail to overturn the election, but the long game for the GOP is to subvert the electoral process to the point where only they can win, and they're on point for that.
 
Flynn clearly never learned a critical lesson that all newly minted 2LTs do. That lesson is how capable a bunch of sensible E-4s are at using laser focused, purposeful incompetence to kill good idea fairies. Trump's coup is going to be thwarted by people who just figured out another way to make "Call of Duty" a drinking game and really want to get back to it.

This is an interesting question. Why would you want the guy back who inherited a vital, burgeoning economy, then wrecked it with the worst pandemic response possible? Who lied to the U.S. about being a populist, then rewarded his millionaire and billionaire buddies* with tax cuts, and deregulations that hurt the common folk. Whose vaunted border wall to be paid for by the Mexican government turned out to be a rickety fence paid for by . . . us. Whose most dependable feature was lying about nearly everything and everyone in unhinged tweets made while sitting on the pot at 3 in the morning.

Why would anyone want this back? Because they were gulled by a confidence trickster who winked in solidarity with their bigotry, and pretended to be one of them while laughing at their gullibility. I'll bet even Trump itself is surprised at how many easily manipulated credules he attracts.

Perhaps the funnier part is how he's assuming that it was those who prefer Biden who voted illegally... despite the fact that Trump was literally telling his supporters to commit voter fraud in support of Trump, that it's Republicans who keep showing utter contempt for democracy, and that it's Republicans who keep getting caught working to subvert the will of the people in favor of Republicans.

It's probably worth noting that Trump was doing a pretty bad job even before the pandemic, with the biggest single difference in perception caused by the right-wing propaganda outlets doing all they can to make Obama and the Democrats look bad, then generally turning around and trying to make Trump and the Republicans look as good as possible, even when it involved citing the same statistics that they bashed as dishonest under Obama as proof positive that Trump was amazing.

(Reuters) - President Donald Trump’s campaign said on Sunday it would again ask the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn results from the Nov. 3 election, its latest long-shot effort to subvert the electoral process and sow doubt over the legitimacy of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

In a statement issued by the campaign, Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani said the campaign had filed a petition asking the high court to reverse three rulings by a Pennsylvania state court interpreting the state’s rules for mail-in ballots.

“The Campaign’s petition seeks to reverse three decisions which eviscerated the Pennsylvania Legislature’s protections against mail ballot fraud,” Giuliani said in a statement.

Giuliani said the filing sought all “appropriate remedies,” including an order allowing Pennsylvania’s Republican-controlled legislature to award the state’s 20 electoral votes to Trump.

They are appealing their trio of losses in Pennsylvania to the US Supreme Court. Cases decided by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on November 23, November 17, and October 23

Nah, he'll just keep trying as long as its not really costing him his own money or is a risk to him personally he will keep trying until the moment he dies.

As I have noted before this will become a long term CT like JFK and outlast all the participants.

The Was the 2020 election stolen' CT will see a blizzard of books, movies and with everyone taking a position on it. It will become a standard Republican belief along with all democrats want Socialism, open borders and to destroy the family, along with Obama was a Kenyan Muslim.

Yep the remedy is odd too if the complaint is about mail in ballots then they would be looked at in some way - why would you throw out all the votes in the state?
