I think there is a difference. Unlike many, I don't believe Trump is any more delusional than his fanbase, and in most cases, alot less so. Now, if we're going to declare about one third of the adult US population clinically insane, that's another story. But I don't believe it. It's "insanity" of convenience.

What sets Trump apart from your standard sociopath politician is his unparalleled shamelessness. It's quite remarkable how far he's willing to take it. I don't think there is anyone else who can do what he does.
 
We interrupt your regular programming about Trump in this Biden thread for a brief update about Biden...

Apparently, he has not only finally picked one person whom progressives seem to like (I don't know anything about her myself) for a Cabinet post, but also backed off from a couple of earlier ones whom progressives didn't like, particularly Rahm Emanuel. Some progressive commentators seem happy about this. I say wait until you see who else he nominates instead; they might be just as conservative as who they're replacing, especially since we know the originals were who he really wanted. By now progressives should be used to being thrown little bones that won't really affect policies on the issues, and it's easy to appoint a token Cabinet member and then just never listen to what (s)he says, and Rahm was one of the easiest bones to toss, not because of politics but because of the Laquan McDonald thing. And really, even if Biden does appoint another progressive, until he actually starts enacting policies that say otherwise, he'll still be the guy who wanted Rahm in the first place, has been appointing mostly conservatives otherwise, and had that ranting yelling fit against progressives in that recording that was released a few days ago. Still, aside from all of that stuff, Rahm being gone seems like a bit of positivity for now.

That's not what the pee tape is purported to show, no. If it was I would find it harder to credit, but I can entirely believe that Trump would do something as petty and spiteful as is claimed.

And huge swathes of people would believe it. Why not, they would believe and have believed pretty much anything. Empirism is not a thing for them. A claim is true if it supports their world view. If it doesn't, it's a lie, fake news.
 
Fox News says Pete Buttigieg is not qualified to be Sec of Transportation.
But they have no problem with Ben Carson?
