The Biden Presidency

Biden quite rightly takes no risk as COVID-19 is rampant in the Trump White House:

Additionally, a private contractor will provide "disinfectant misting services" to clear the air of lingering droplets.

I hope they have someone from the EPA (which regulates disinfectants) overseeing this. Most disinfectants are labeled to be applied by coarse spray (~400 nm or greater droplet diameter) because the registrants have no available data showing that the smaller droplets created by a mister or fogger have the same efficacy, due to the reduced amount of active ingredient contacting the surfaces. Most of the products that are labeled for mists and fogs are only approved as a preliminary cleaning step which then needs to be followed with conventional disinfectant application.

Sorry. I've been dealing with this at work a lot.
"Can (One of our products) be applied by fogger?"
"No."

Yeah - the virus gives him a good excuse...
You joke, but the one good consequence of Trump not admitting he lost, is that Biden and Harris don't have to go pay him a visit in the White House.

No idea what they would have done if Trump had graciously conceded on Nov 7th. (I know, Trump and graciously in one sentence is probably against the MA.)

Would this come up in a Biden presidency ??

Did the Trump family's Chinese trademarks awarded after a Trump meeting with Xi come up during his presidency?

Discuss in your own words Bubba.

Can you do that?

Kamala Harris, Others as Key Contacts for 'Joint Venture' With China Energy Co.

Did you actually read that article? Did you actually read the email itself? I think not.

Harris was mentioned as a possible contact in a "phase one" survey of important contacts in the USA. That's just proper diligence that would be conducted by any foreign organization planning to do business in the USA.

Also, the article contains this:
One question comes quickly to mind: Was Harris ever contacted about this, and if so, by whom? ...

So the author doesn't even know if Harris was contacted which leaves open the very real possibility that she was named in some email by some company without her knowledge. Boy, that sure is damning, right?

Bubba, I'm starting to suspect that you are a antifa plant here at ISF whose job is to make the GOP look as stupid as possible. If so, I say job well done.

Don't be silly. Real men (i.e. Trump supporters)don't read!

I wonder if Biden will have Roberts do his swearing in.

Probably. Roberts seems to be on good terms, at least in an official capacity, with the Left. Roberts did both of Obama inaugurations.

But there's absolutely no law that says the Chief Justice, nor indeed any Justice for that matter, has to be the one giving the oath.

It would be beyond insane for Biden to not have the Chief Justice do the swearing in. The whole point of electing Biden was to put paid to the Trump era of ******** all over everything. A public show of normalcy at the key moment of the transition from Trump back to reality is absolutely essential.

Lol normalcy. The fascist right isn't going back into the closet.

I'd say odds are good that the Proud Boys murder some DC resident on the streets the night of Biden's inauguration.

Roberts will do the swearing in, almost certainly.
Though that is a tradition, rather then a requirment. Any public official down to the Justice of the peace level who is legally able to administer oaths can swear in the President.
LBJ , for instance, was sworn in a by a federal judge on board Air Force One after the JFK assination.

That was, to put it mildly, a unique circumstance.

And yes Coolidge was sworn in by his father, a Justice of the Peace, but as with LBJ that was following the death of a President, in this case Harding.

Legally speaking you could probably have a Notary Public do it.

Oh no, are you kidding?! This means Trump could do his own ceremony, getting sworn in?

Ugh.

I forget whom, but one President was sworn in by his father after the assassination of his predecessor. Lyndon Johnson was sworn in by a local judge on the tarmac in Dallas, aboard AF1.
Trump will probably have judge Jeanine do it.

The Crazy are going to Crazy no matter what we do. The point of this is to make it publicly very obvious which side is the Crazy Party and which isn't.

I'm not questioning the legality of it, I'm questioning the optics of it. Having someone else do the swearing in sends an absolutely horrible message at the worst possible time.

Hell, the OANN headlines and conspiracy theories (presuming there's a difference between those?) practically write themselves. "Roberts refused to sear him in! Because he knew the fix was in, and Biden isn't the Real President(tm)!" "Since Biden was sworn in by the Chief Justice of X State, instead of the United States, he's only President of X State!" "He was sworn in by a Notary Public, which proves that any Notary Public can swear in a new President at any time! The Freemen on the land were right all along!" "He was sworn in by his wife/son/uncle/cousin! That's nepotism, which is illegal in the US! Therefore he isn't the Real President(tm)!" "He was sworn in by a "Justice of the Peace", which means he can't legally give the military any orders during wartime!"

I forget whom, but one President was sworn in by his father after the assassination of his predecessor.

That was Coolidge, after Harding died (from a sudden illness (probably pneumonia although history is not 100% certain) not an assassination.) Coolidge was visiting his father who by chance was country clerk and Justice of the Peace.

Of note though Coolidge was sworn in again by An Associate Justice.... of the District of Columbia, not the United States, upon his return to Washington.
