Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 26

I don't want this to get buried in the conspiracy thread, because I think it is relevant. Yesterday, at the Michigan "hearing," a "witness" actually said

“I think Chinese all look alike. How can you tell? If some Chow shows up, you can be anybody and you can vote.”

And the audience clapped.

I've said this before, it's about racism.

You don't know the US Military very well.
As of Jan 21st Biden will become the POTUS and if ordered to remove Trump and his croneis from their offices, the Military will obey BIden.

My point is - there might be no useful orders for Biden to give to the military.

If Trump stays in the White House, it would not be up to the military to evict him, that's a role of a civilian department - currently headed by loyal Trump appointees.

If Trump's cabinet officials retain possession of their offices and continue to give orders to the civilian bureaucracy, there may be no role in the military for ending that.

If civilians in Government agencies get orders from two sets of bosses, one of which (Biden's team) can't access agency buildings or electronic communications - who do they follow? There is no role for the military to resolve that.

Think of the times you have interacted with the federal government as a civilian in America - very little military. The public-facing side of the government is mostly not military, there is little to no role for the military in solving such disputes. We're talking IRS, USDA food safety, National Parks and Forests, food stamps, housing support, social security, border security, all that, all non-military.

If a President tried to stay on and had support from cabinet officials, had a Senate that would avoid any substantive decisions in the matter, then the military, regardless of its loyalties, might find itself an irrelevance watching from the sidelines.

That would be sedition, and I don't believe first of all that Trump has the balls for it, and second that a president would be powerless to put an end to it. All actors would be arrested, even Trump, and the USSS would have neither the will or the ability to stop this. It's hard to imagine that the DHS would actually support sedition, and there are a ton of career people who would rebel against the suggestion. Let's not forget the FBI, either. This plan would take a whole lot of crazy people, not just Trump.

I understand that this is hypothetical, but it's implausible.

Not quite. What I've been reading says the House has passed their version and are currently hammering out differences with the Senate version.
When that's done, which I've read is going to be soon, it appears both houses will have enough votes to override a veto.

IF the NDAA goes to Trump without removing 230, I'll be interested to see if Trump campaigns for the two Republicans in Georgia. If the Senate passes the NDAA without 230 being changed, why would Trump help Republicans in Georgia? They did nothing for him.

Let's also not forget that Trump's support among the military is shaky at best. He's not some beloved demagogue of the Armed Services.

Trump Tweets

Looks like certain Republican Senators are getting cold feet with respect to the termination of Big Tech’s Section 230, a National Security and Election Integrity MUST. For years, all talk, no action. Termination must be put in Defense Bill!!!

If The PDJT refuses to vacate the White House, I think we will see massive mobs storming the building. A few concrete barriers and an iron fence would not be enough to stop them.

doubt it - it's a fortress.

But if he refuses, the Joint Chiefs will just send the Nuclear Football to Biden.
If the Republicans don't get that message...

They'd either follow Biden's orders, or not do anything at all. This idea that the Old Boss will just show up and act like he's still in charge is nonsense. Every government employee will be aware that the new President has been sworn in, and won't just ignore that.

If there is some small cabal of high-level officials who try to pull this off, and the civilian law enforcement agencies refuse to do anything about that, then these officials and the law enforcement agencies supporting them will be in de facto rebellion against the lawful government of the United States. And kicking a bunch of rebels out of government facilities that they're illegally occupying is exactly a job for the US military.

And enough members of the FBI and USSS are former military that they'll know exactly what will happen to them if they make the Army storm the Whitehouse or some other Washington facility. The USSS may be heavily armed when compared to your average police force, but they'll melt like snow on a stove top when the military takes them on.

I'm sure we could round up some Brits who would cheerfully help burn the White House down again. It's been too long.

True, and they'll be restoring the Glory of the Empire post Brexit anyway, so all you'd have to do is change flags again :)

Thanks, Pointt is Trump has no legal power after BIden is Sworn in. None.Nada.
And I thnk most bureacrats know that and will obey Biden's appointees rather then Trumps.
I think some people are really indulging in "Disaster Porn" here.

And it is a national hisjtoriacl monument.
Hopfully they world storm it, remove Trump, but keep it intact.

Yeah, I'm not so worried about that. The burning of the Whitehouse was mentioned above, and is part of that history you mention. Any damage done in removing Trump will be history as well; in a hundred years we'll be making jokes about "I hope they leave the bullet holes in the front door where Trump was shot!"
