Is this hearing a bit like the Citizen Grand Juries that found George W. Bush guilty of organising the 9/11 attacks, Barack Obama guilty of treason, fraud and not being a US citizen, and the Montana Human Rights Network to be Jewish terrorists?

Dave

One major difference is that those hearings were run by basement-dwelling losers who had to rely on made-up commissions because they had no real-world power to actually try to hold anyone to account for their imagined crimes.

These ones are being held by the president of the United States, who could presumably be expected to be able to hold real hearings, if he had any actual evidence to speak of.

So, in fact, they are far, far more pathetic than those earlier examples.

Trump has yet to concede that he was completely wrong about the Central Park Five in 1989, so why should he concede such a trivial thing as his election drubbing now. He has a major mental malfunction about admitting ANYTHING he has said or done was EVER wrong, despite reality.

Imagine any normal person confidently predicting that 15 US coronavirus cases would soon be zero, and then facing the reality that the country is now well over 10 million cases! It would be imperative that a normal person clearly articulate why they had been so totally off in their prediction. But we’ve got the ghost of Roy Cohn dictating behavior here, so that’s clearly never going to happen.

Well, we wouldn't have had so many cases if we had just stopped the counting.
Counting makes the President mad.

Gettysburg is a fitting place for this. Trump won't be the first racist to get his ass handed to him there. If past is prologue, most of the media won't carry it live and will report on the event after fact-checking. Biden should hold a live event at the same time that will get covered.

Such a moron.

These are the numbers that matter.

Biden: 80,070,740
Trump: 73,890,232

Margin: 6,180,508

He's too much of an idiot to understand sampling validity. Polling Newsmax patrons about whether Trump should concede is like asking members of an incel forum if men should be entitled to sex with any women they want.

Authoritarian stream in USA population (no prize for guessing which party is preferred by them) is well known.

The next step is to figure out how to best handle authoritarians in the electorate, given that it looks like they aren't going anywhere. Policies and decision have to be made in light of their presence. We ignore them at our peril. Sure hope the pros are thinking about this.

Trump cancels Gettysburg trip.

We've had our authoritarians in the electorate as a significant force since the early nineties in the Flanders. Their party oscillated between less than 10% to 24% in these years, now again well over 20% in the polls.

Nothing has worked: ignoring them, castigating them, having other parties talk tough against immigrants, etc ...

Hope your pros are smarter than ours.

From the GA Secretary of State:

By all accounts, Georgia had a wildly successful and smooth election. We finally defeated voting lines and put behind us Fulton County's now notorious reputation for disastrous elections," Raffensperger wrote in a USA Today op-ed. "This should be something for Georgians to celebrate, whether their favored presidential candidate won or lost. For those wondering, mine lost -- my family voted for him, donated to him and are now being thrown under the bus by him."

It’s hard to imagine any sane and observant human being surprised by this.
