Cont: 2020 Presidential Election part 3

Perhaps winning isn't even their goal. Perhaps they're just trolling, or possibly hoping to cast doubt on our institutions and our government, and subverting our legal system for assistance.
Donald, Rudy and Sidney fully expect the Election Officials and Judges to do what is in the interest of The President, or at least their Party's interest instead of the law.
Republicans in government have never been on Trump's side or interested in keeping him around. What they're doing is trying to set us up to make it easier next time for somebody else who's more one-of-their-own to take Trump's place. (And so far, most Democrats are, as usual, playing right into their hands.)

We're all fighting this fight right now.
We're talking about the core of our American Constitutional Republic, the right to vote, the thing people have died for since 1776.

Ironically, that is exactly what he is trying to take away. The people voted.

Trump has requested another recount (within his rights), while also demanding signature matching of absentee ballots (which is illegal).

This will be essentially the third recount of Georgia votes, and will be machine counted like the ballots were counted on election day.

Trumpets have figured out how to manipulate the voting machines so now they can fix the election.

Here's the question: what would you think if this new recount was significantly different than the original and the hand recount?

A reasonable person would conclude that something got really messed up in third count and consider it suspicious

I think we are going to see this third count of the ballots confirm what the first and the second did and Trump will be back to complaining about the signatures again.

They have been and are on the same side. Trump hasn't done much that any other Republican wouldn't have done, he's just been more crass in going about it.

That only means they're easy to bribe and easy to blackmail, both tools the GOP uses extensively.

Sure, extensively but certainly not exclusively. Meaning, they ain't the only ones to use them, even extensively. Which includes law enforcement and not just in a sting operation. Being easy to bribe and blackmail just makes one even more unreliable. Not just in the decisions they might make but even in their very tenure in such an appointment. They're the types of things that can get you kicked off the bench or make you just scuttle away.

Heck, even Trump's own sister basically ran from her federal judgeship rather than face an investigation of just her family.

FTFY. It will be the third count of the ballots. Second recount. They won't be checking signatures.

I was just about to make the same pedantic point as you made. Since I've been beaten to the punch, let me just say you're a dull pedant. No one likes that kind of person.

Man, I gotta be quicker to spot these posts. Calling acbytesla a pedant isn't nearly as satisfying as being one.

Other than politics, how do you lose a case where large numbers of voters, far more than you need to flip Pennsylvania, are disenfranchised? Vote Observers thrown out of counting rooms. People going to vote finding out they have already voted through a fake ballot - go home!

There are large numbers of people finding that this has happened and not just ?

  • The case in Nevada where some woman didn't want to incriminate her room-mate
  • People following President Trump's advice to vote twice
  • A handful of cases nationwide where someone seems to have forgotten that they had already voted.

For breaking perfectly clear rules of conduct, such as not wearing face masks.

I wonder if Trump actually believes that he can Tweet the courts into ruling in his favor on his ridiculous cases.

It might get interesting on Monday. The Michigan GOP party chairman wrote a letter to the Canvassing Board which is made up of two Republicans and two Democrats to delay certification for 14 days so an audit of Wayne County can be conducted. The problem is that all Michigan county boards including Wayne County certified the election results. Michigan law says they "shall" certify the election results.

I'm guessing the Biden campaign will have a request for an emergency writ of mandamus ready the moment the canvassers might refuse certification. Legally speaking, the board has no choice.
My impression - for what it's worth - is that the Governor of Michigan appoints the state board, and can yank them back whenever she wants.
