Cont: 2020 Presidential Election part 3

We are truly through the looking glass at this point. I think our societal problems go deeper than Trump himself. We have a sitting congressman who is perfectly disenfranchising his entire state in order to have a shot at getting his guy declared king president.

I don't mind recounts. I don't even mind losing candidates trying to make their case in court that they think something went wrong. However, some of these lawsuits, and this one in particular, seem to just be looking for a judge who will be willing to say that down is up and who cares about reality.

This is bad.

Whilst there has been a lot of shenanigans about the recent SCOTUS picks, I don't think it would get that far. The next circuit up would kick these silly cases in to touch.

Donald Trump started campaigning for re-election in 2020 the minute he won the election of 2016; judging by this, he'll continue to campaign for re-election in 2020 until at least 2024; he'll never stop campaigning, he'll just appeal to a different electorate.

I honestly see some of these things that Trump writes, and truly wonder what's in his head. Lying, or crazy? That's a serious question for me. Even if he believes that there was voter fraud, which would not be a completely ridiculous allegation on its face, there's no way he could possibly believe it was a landslide. Well, there's one possible way. He could be insane.

I agree. I'm not worried about a lawsuit like this one actually succeeding.

It disturbs me, though, that a congressman would play games like this with the law and with the election.

It might get interesting on Monday. The Michigan GOP party chairman wrote a letter to the Canvassing Board which is made up of two Republicans and two Democrats to delay certification for 14 days so an audit of Wayne County can be conducted. The problem is that all Michigan county boards including Wayne County certified the election results. Michigan law says they "shall" certify the election results.

I'm guessing the Biden campaign will have a request for an emergency writ of mandamus ready the moment the canvassers might refuse certification. Legally speaking, the board has no choice.
